What are people using for turnip calculation? I've been using ac-turnip.com and it seems to be a bit shitty to be honest. Or have Nintendo changed up patterns or something so these predictors aren't any good anyway?

In other news, 32 fucking bells this afternoon and it was meant to be a spike to at least 200. :rolleyes:

I use ac-turnip. Seems to work perfectly to me.

I think you're most likely just misreading what it means (no offense :))

Detailed why is spoilered below...

Spoiler

If you've got a gradually decreasing price all any predictor can tell you is that there's an option it will spike. But until the price starts rising it doesn't know when in the week that will happen. You should read the table below the graph.

The different predictors are all running exactly the same logic, they just pick different ways of displaying it.

I'll break down how ac-turnip.com works a little for those who might not quite get it.

Consider my graph below. First glance might say ooooo a high spike from Thursday AM through to Friday PM. But that's not what this means. This means I could have a high spike and it could happen on Thursday AM at the earliest. If it happens on Thursday PM then it would immediately drop after that, not stay high. Each day as I enter prices that continue to drop it pushes back a session because the rise hasn't started yet so the peak cannot happen quite as soon.

The other confusing point is that the high spike has a huge range and isn't guaranteed to actually be massive. Look, it's gonna be nearly 600! (actually 564 max). But actually it's between 188 and 564. So it's easy to end up pretty disappointed if it says you're getting a big spike and you get a price of 200.

Finally, this isn't a guaranteed big spike. The table shows all the possibilities I have. I could have:

  • High spike: ~40% chance. There are 4 different times a big spike could start now and each of them has a 10% chance of being true.
  • Small spike: ~40% chance. There are 4 different times a big spike could start now and each of them has a 10% chance of being true.
  • Decreasing: ~20% chance. The price just keeps dropping all week

391 bells per turnip in my daughter's town, if anyone wants to cash out early this week. H0RG0

Cheers. Sold a few of mine, but my wife and daughter are both expecting a large spike later this week, so held some back.

Tip and a couple of DIYs left.

Why? You're guaranteed a small spike this week. If it wasn't for online play and communities to allow us to go anywhere and always get a fabulous price you'd be massively happy because you'd be making a guaranteed profit this week.

The calculator says to expect something in the range between 81 to 180 this week.

No it doesn't.

You are guaranteed a minimum of 126.

You are going to see:

* a step up to 81-126, then

* a step up to 125-179

* a step to 126-180

* then decline
