Very interested in this with no easy access to the hardware over here outside of paying 500+ when I've looked on eBay. But excluding Rondo of Blood, the BEST GAME ON THE SYSTEM to everyone else outside Japan is lunacy.

Why not just play the excellent Castlevania: Dracula X on the SNES mini instead?

It's nowhere near as good.

Isn't it? Graphically it looks a lot better on the SNES though.

Rondo of Blood is halfway between a SOTN style Igavania and an old school Castlevania game.

Dracula X is bits of Rondo of Blood remixed in to an old school Castlevania game. There's still some cool secrets and a branching section and some of the free roaming levels, but it's a much less ambitious game.

It does look better though.

And it has that amazing sampled guitar riff on the first level.

Playing one isn't like playing the other. Dracula X is a completely differently-made version of Rondo of Blood, and arguably Rondo of Blood is better.

That doesn't mean Dracula X is bad though. While it may not be as good as Rondo, it's still very decent. The main thing I dislike is the way the backgrounds are paler than the sprites - it makes the graphics look worse than they are.
