Hobbs and Shaw (Fast & Furious spin-off)

Recommended Posts

I was never quite sure if this was actually going to be anything more than talk, but it's actually progressing. Obviously Jason Statham and Rock The Dwayne Johnson are in their established roles. Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Mission Impossible Fallout) and Idris Elba have also joined. Don't know Kirby's role, but Elba is playing the villain.

It'll be directed by David Leitch, of John Wick, Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2. Written by Chris Morgan, of Fast & Furious 3-9.

Some sites have said she'll be playing Shaw's sister.

Or maybe step sister or half sister. Vanessa Redgrave is playing her mum, not Mirren.

“He’s a ghost”

Normally Id assume this refers to someone living off the grid, but in this film it may turn out he is a literal spooky ghost.

Somehow never seen a F&F film, but I want to see this.

Prepare yourself for this film by watching Fast 5, 6 & 7 for your introduction to Hobbs and Shaw and this ridiculous world the Fast & Furious characters now live in.

Also watch Tokyo Drift to get the true ending of Hans story. Truly one of the most tragic moments in cinema history. So much so that the fact they've made Jason Statham part of the family is a god damn crime.

It doesn't really need the F&F banner but it looks like fun. It's a shame The Rock essentially took over the F&F franchise because they were great films with a fun cast but something like this was always inevitable after how well received they were in the main series.

The film should end with them realising they're not strong enough individually to defeat Iris Elba and doing the fusion dance to combine into the ultimate baldie.

After his antics in previous films, I hope the Rock flexes his way out of a full body cast, which is the result of him jumping clean off the Earth to slam Statham into the moon.

This is only slightly more ridiculous than the series to date.

Having watched the trailer for once, this seems like it is essentially a buddy cop/good hearted criminal throwback film from the old days, but with that Asian OTT flavouring.

If this proves successful, what other characters will be getting their own spin-offs in the F&FEU?

A comedy action flick starring the bickering black guys next? Parker & Pearce.
