@Calashnikov the simplest, honest to God answer is that Dark Souls is just that good

...it clicked hard. It's one of the few games, and that number is really small if you start disregarding multiplayer and co-op games, that I can endlessly replay and not get tired of it. Once Dark Souls grabs you, once you feel it, it's forever an exhilarating experience. I can't think of any other game quite like that...

Ditto.

Once it's *really* got you it just invades your consciousness and is constantly lurking there in the background. It has kinda broken games for me. I still play and enjoy them, but I don't know if anything will ever have the same impact on me again. I sincerely hope so... But I'm not expecting it.

There's a good reason "the Dark Souls of..." has become a cliche, and this is the Dark Souls of Dark Souls games.

Is it May 25th yet? Fuck’s sake.

This could help pass a few minutes at least.

As long as they don't add dubious and slightly disturbing cartoon anime girls in short skirts to Dark Souls, Kirby does not care about Dark Souls. Adult games or GTFO.

I suspect they're struggling to fix performance issues on the Switch, Blighttown did look very rough from the brief footage we've seen. By delaying they will also avoid unfavourable comparisons to the revamped PS4/Xbox One version. Nintendo needed Dark Souls in their release schedule too, there's a drought of games this summer.

Lunch time Dark Souls and broken joycons will have to wait!

I wasn’t going to get this remaster, but I like the idea of having all 3 games for the PS4. If only there was a Demon’s Souls port to top off the SoulsBorne awesomeness one one console.

Dark Souls has pretty much completely passed me by as it came along when I wasn't really playing any kind of videogame, but since we got the Switch at Christmas, I'm looking around for something meaty that might be worth a look. I don't really know much about the games other than: a) plenty of people love Dark Souls with every inch of their being, b) it has combat, and c) it's supposed to be rock hard.

Now, what I particularly like in games is a sense of progress, adventure and exploration, so stuff like Zelda, Resident Evil, Castlevania, for example. I also like a reasonable amount of RPG-style leveling up, but nothing too hardcore - I can't be arsed having to deal with a 1001 stats or micro-managing every inventory item every other second. I really like the RPG-light elements of, say, Symphony of the Night. Stuff that's essentially just repeating the same thing but looking for incremental gains doesn't really hold my attention that long, e.g. pure fighting/racing games. I like some type of combat, but as long as it's interspersed with exploration and other kinds of 'stuff' to do. I like atmosphere. I like a sense of a solid world. I like being able to do things at my own pace.

Is Dark Souls for me or will it spit me out and leave me broken?

That Switch delay is perfect. Play the PS4 version in a month, and by the time I've rinsed it there will be another new version to play.

If you like Castlevania, I think you'll enjoy Dark Souls. It's not that hard in the traditional sense of combat (though bosses are hard and a random enemy can't be overlooked), what differentiates it from most games is the exploration of an intricate, interconnected world (with no map or waypoints whatsoever), and the lack of saving except at key places - if you die at a boss, you have to fight or run past dozens of enemies to try again. This makes it punishing.
