Farpoint - PlayStation VR

Recommended Posts

It's released in 30 minutes, and doesn't have its own thread. If Polybius can have its own thread, then this can as well.

Is this the killer app that shows the world that PSVR is an essential purchase? Because all I can find is footage on Twitter of people who appear to have been bribed to over-react and shout "Spiders!" Whilst ripping the headset off.

But I really, really, want it to be amazing. Fingers crossed.

I'm waiting for user reviews. Pretty sure moving via stick whilst looking around or firing is going to be spewk inducing.

I've had mixed experiences with full movement. With one early game I could last about 30 minutes tops before feeling queasy. With Resi Evil I had no problems at all.

I'm waiting for more reviews too. I'm not paying that money for that horrible looking bit of bath plumbing  tube and 5 hour game.

I know it's not on rails but the tag line 'just keep moving' gives me a worry.

I really like the idea of the gun peripheral, but I want a better game to get with it.

Also from Eurogamer:

"Horizon Zero Dawn is all too forgettable"

Not recommended.

;)

Sounds like its basically on rails (but with wide rails) and made more immersive with the aim controller. I;m not expected GOTY levels. But I think it will rank up there with Rush of Blood. Which is fine with me.

That's precisely why I've gone ahead and cancelled my preorder for the time being. Rush of Blood was a lot of fun but it cost £15.

I really should play Rush of Blood. My bro bought it at launch, and loved it. I haven't played it, because reasons.

Amazon send me an email at 3:30am

"Soz mate. Your order is delayed until 19th May for no reason that we're willing to share lol. Since it's 3:30 am good luck finding somewhere else to sell you it"

Not the exact wording but that's the way I interpreted it.

I'm not greatly bothered to be honest. I'd have had a quick game tonight but I've not been well this week so playing it at the weekend would be better. Also it'll probably net me a free month prime extension since I complained about the zero notice.

Amazon were playing silly buggers. Had a dispatch date of 16th May, which was missed. So I sent them a message they said "don't worry it will be with you by the 18th".  So check the account and the dispatch date has changed to "dispatching soon" - Last time that happened was for Wii U Zelda, and eventually they sent a mail saying "sorry, ummm we can't send you shit"

So I checked Tesco direct and they have some, So do argos. Ordered  from Tesco to pick up tomorrow and cancelled the order at amazon.  I don't think I will trust amazon with a day one order again. Great for order for released items, not so good for pre-orders.

OH, also,  I have a reservation for Worthing argos if anyone wants it

I got screwed by Amazon too.. So Ive ordered with Argos for collection today, cancelled my Amazon order, kicked off with their support and got a £5 credit from them for the inconvenience.

I got 10 quid off my next prime renewal and I cancelled the Amazon order. Collecting from Argos tonight. I was mainly annoyed that they obviously knew they'd been stiffed on the order well before they bothered to tell me at 3:30am. So fuck em.

I would cancel but I had ordered it off Amazon using that promo they had a while back to get a fiver off the cost of it so my thriftiness is keeping me in check - better fucking get here by Friday mind.

Had about an hour with this so far and I'm pretty impressed.  The aim controller looks and feels great in-game and has a nice rumble when you shoot.

After a few (fantastic) cut scenes you're let loose and it's all very immersive. You set your height and off you go - the tracking has been 100% spot on for me so far. Love that you can bring the gun to your face, close one eye and look down the scope. I tried to shoot myself in the head - that works too:) one handed detection works most of the time.

Graphics are Resi quality on the pro, with lovely smoke, mist and especially clouds.

Only encountered a few types of spiders so far, but it seems really nice and quite tense. I'm aware I'm not actually breathing at certain points, so keep stopping to take a breath :)

Default controls are gash - set-up for VR virgins. I've set mine to smooth and turn 11 which uses both sticks and I feel ok.

i know you're being pushed along a channel, but it doesn't seem to matter when the gunplay and environment is so much fun. It's certainly cracked the biggest fps problem straight away in that it simply feels nice to shoot shit - it feels natural and not as clumsy as, say for example Prey did.
