Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Best served with a side order of Heroic or Legendary

For some reason I’m having to redownload the whole thing- 73.7 gb. I am on the preview os though so maybe that’s it? At any rate after 2 gb or so can start it then deselect the installs for bits you don’t want, or prioritise the order you want to download in- it’s surprisingly slick and seems to be working.

Start it, and you’ll be prompted to patch. Apparently once you get to “ready for play” you can turn on the intelligent delivery bit.

ODST is the second best Halo. It's fucking sublime. It was made in a year or so and it shows that they just drilled down on what made Halo amazing. It's just pure Halo and it's ace. Reach would be better were it not for the terrible ending fight and the shit elites.

Just played a bit of Halo: CE on the X.

It looks absolutely stunning- almost as if this is how it was meant to look.

 

Also, it still plays fantastically.

It seems a bit strange that install everything is still the default and you have to know go use the intelligent delivery feature to stop it downloading the full 70gb

Campaign and playlist progress counters may read as 0s across the board on initial launch

Intelligent Delivery prioritization can be lost if console enters Connected Standby during install

Halo 4 Forge objects exposed to the global light source may appear incorrectly

Some career stats do not update until the title is relaunched

Corrupted installation can occur through Intelligent Delivery installation

Aim sensitivity feels faster in update compared to previous MCC retail

Players idling in match are not always automatically removed from the game

Elites are not dual wielding in various Campaign missions

Players with high ping times may be unable to find a game

Objects will pop-in during the Halo 4 Campaign

Players can go out-of-sync when moving from mission to mission in Halo 2 co-op Campaign when there is an original Xbox One hosting and an Xbox One X client

Players may need to reacquire previously collected ODST audio logs before receiving Achievements related to them

 

For me, the big thing is the X upgrade, so it's running 4k/60 with HDR across the board and looks beautiful. Can't speak to the multiplayer yet, but the campaign looks fantastic.

I had a blast myself before as well. Stuck it on Legendary and got myself off the Autumn. It’s good to be back.

I don't think ODST has had much attention it looks pretty much the same with some HDR added. 

 

Halo 3 looks effing incredible and plays better than ever. Difficulty is a massive step up from 2 on Heroic. Thoroughly enjoying it. CE looks amazing too.

Halo 3 was built with 10 bit framebuffer, so they've been able to pull out all sorts of tricks and level of detail things. It was amazing in backwards compatibility.

 

CE is just amazing. Although the corridor repetition is a bit much, and it has difficulty spikes, I struggle to think of a FPS that has held up as well and for so long.
