Introducing "Zwei" (project title), the new survival horror game by survival horror's greatest director Shinji Mikami.
The game's being developed by Mikami's own studio Tango Gameworks, in co-operation with Bethesda Softworks. Besides this, not much else is known about this project which should hit the shelves somewhere in late 2013.

This is how the studio is pitching the whole thing:

Quote

“Our latest project’s codename is "Zwei" and it is a survival horror game.
Neither the code name nor the image is intended to tell you exactly what is in the game."

“As a master of the ‘survival horror’ genre, Shinji Mikami is committed to making a game that is the realization of pure survival horror, an experience which he defines as one that pushes the limits of fear and exhilaration. He and his team at Tango are committed to attaining this vision.”

This is what the man himself had to say about his latest brainchild:

Quote

"I found my focus and once again I'm striving for pure survival horror".
"I am being very hands-on to see that the quality is there. Rest assured"

It's not much, but l'll take any news at his point.

Equally as interesting, the lead CGI artist from Biohazard Rebirth's environments will be acting as lead environment artist of this project. Rebirth is widely considered one of the most atmospheric titles of all time. All things considered, Project Zwei looks to be a stand out title in every regard. While no platform has been set, it is said to be arriving in the later portion of 2013. Check back for more information as it becomes available.

A new Kamiya and a new Mikami title next year, 2013 is set to deliver.

If you think about it, 'The Evil Within' is just another way of saying 'Resident Evil.' Perhaps Shinji Mikami is making the game that he thinks Resident Evil should be by now.

probably, I'm also thinking that he meant something along the lines of 'the true sequel' with the codename Zwei for the project.

What does that mean and how do I get one?

It's the engine Rage ran on.

Could be it'll work better for this game — presumably it has a slower pace, smaller environments and won't be targeting 60fps — but even if it's a fairly no-frills port I could see the next gen version benefiting from a vastly increased RAM pool. That said, maybe all the work put in to Doom 4, before it supposedly stalled, will benefit this game; dynamic shadows, that kind of thing.
