Barny, I am sorry I cant listen to Lil Wayne, it feels like I am having my ears stabbed with a rusty screwdriver when ever I have the misfortune to hear his voice.

Man, you miseed out on two of the best mixtapes that ever were mixed and taped.

Nas made a great album. Best album from him in a long time :)

Just listened to this. It is good, some quality tracks on it, but it's a little over bloated for me to say its great. Why don't enough hiphop emcees make a nice, concise 12 track album these days instead of an album with 12 great tracks and another 9, so do ones?! :(

I don't think that's limited to recent stuff, I can remember moaning about the bloat of most hip-hop albums since forever. 'Less is more' isn't a concept that the culture in general seems to subscribe to.

He always used to make a point of mentioning he was born in New York back then, on every track, like it was some kind of pass you needed to make hip hop.

6 in the Morning is one of my favourite hip hop tracks ever though.

6 In The Morning is a bona fide classic. Yeah, being East Coast was like some sort of badge back in the day. We even used to mimic them over here, voices and all  Also, The 7A3 continued the tradition of East Coast MCs living on the West Coast. Remember them?

EDIT: DJ Muggs on DJ duties and produced by the Shocklee brothers no less.

More classic LL ...

Didn't realise the Shocklee bros produced The 7A3. Always thought it was Muggs.

They only produced that one track I think. Pretty sure the rest was produced by Daddy-O?

EDIT: yes, the rest of the album was done by Joe "The Butcher" and Daddy-O - http://geniusrap.com...in-in-cali.html

EDIT2: Ah, Sadler was involved too. So the whole Bomb Squad on that track then.

I think I like both versions equally. The only PR remix I can think of where I definitely prefer the original is Shut'em Down but I think I'm completely solo with that one :D

My favourite Pete Rock remix is this I think.

Thanks for posting that, man. Love a bit of both those guys so can't believe I've never come across it before!

I'd just like to say that that since getting a copy of Russian Roulette a few days ago I'm continually struck by how utterly amazing it is. It's not so much of a producer-driven rap album as it is a brilliantly crafted collage of sound equally lo-fi, massive, and eccentric and glued together by guest spots that rarely fail to punch you in the nuts. I've found it impossible to listen to anything less than its whole 45 odd minutes every time it's been stuck on. What fucking more do you want?

Alchemist:: Russian Roulette. Everyone needs this album.

I went to the Q&A of the Art of Rap last week with Ice T answering questions.

I thought it was a well put together doc, no real direction, but throughly enjoyable. He said they shot 70 hours of footage which had to be whittled down to 2 for the film, so I'm looking forward to some bumper dvd extras.

I recommend a watch as that IMDB rating is a bit harsh.

I can't believe Nardwuar gave El-P one of those Criminal Minded USB sticks, I forced my old boss to stock those where I used to work. Not one single fucker got sold and I forgot to even get one myself before I left

Does rllmuk fuck with Lil Ugly Mane? I grabbed Mista Thug Isolation a couple days ago and it's pretty good. Wouldn't say he's a particularly gifted MC but I really dig his production, plus he does his own hilarious album art.
