    Watchmen coming to HBO

It's HBO, so there's reason for hope, right? It's only early in talks, but Damon Lindelof, fresh off The Leftovers, is currently attached too.
  2. Another revival! Ralph Macchio and William Zabka have bills to pay are back as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. After competition from mainly streaming services, it's going to YouTube Red, the YouTube subscription service. Down-and-out Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and reignited his rivalry with a successful Daniel, who has struggles of his own. It's going to be a 10 episode half hour comedy series. Yes, comedy. Karate too of course. It's being written by the minds behind Hot Tub Time Machine and Harold and Kumar.

    Doctor Who

Personally enjoyed it. The bin burp and the severed arm wrestling were a bit shit, but otherwise it worked well as an introduction to the characters. Some people have criticized the somewhat hectic pace of the story but I personally feel that the whole intent was to introduce Rose and the Doctor and having her get caught up in the action right from the beginning allowed this to happen with plenty of pace. I don't think that a detailed story PLUS the introduction of the characters would've worked if they'd tried to squeeze it all into the first 45 minute episode. My 10 yr old son sat glued to the TV the entire 45 minutes, so on that count I think it worked as family entertainment - after all, if the programme only tried to appeal to the (now grown up) people who watched the old series it would probably fail terribly - the producers have to attract a new audience as well as catering for the original fans if it's to succeed. Seems to have trounced Ant 'n' Dec in the ratings though and almost all the word of mouth I've seen has been positive (apart from the balls-up that allowed Graham Norton's voice to intrude - I thought the baddies were Autons, not Nortons...). Have to see how it holds up over the coming weeks. What'd everyone else think?

    Resident Alien

Alice versus zombie Xenomorphs! Alan Tudyk will star in a SyFy adaptation of the Dark Horse comic. He is Harry, a crash-landed alien who takes on the identity of a small town doctor. Described as a dark, twisted and comedic fish-out-of-water story. Apparently the comic has him solving mysteries and murders.
  5. Netflix show based on a 1959 Shirley Jackson gothic horror novel, but with the plot updated. Coming on 12 October. Created and directed by Mike Flanagan, of Oculus and Gerald's Game. It's about a group of siblings who lived in what would later become the most famous haunted house in the country. As adults they are brought back together and must face the ghosts of their past (cliche alert).
  6. They're giving a live-action Avatar another go, after that movie which doesn't exist. It's being run by the original animated show's creators/showrunners and will be on Netflix, in partnership with Nickelodeon. They specifically mention a culturally-appropriate, non-whitewashed cast and that Netflix are backing them in their vision to go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Also this concept art
  7. Stephen King and JJ Abrams are going back to Hulu after their 11.22.63 collaboration there. I don't have extensive knowledge of King's work, but apparently Castle Rock gets mentioned a lot, with a few stories set there too. Nothing really known yet about the show or if it relates to other works. A lot of stuff does get named in the teaser though.

    Doom Patrol

Greg Berlanti and DC Universe (DC's upcoming streaming service) are making a live action Doom Patrol series. It's ordered direct-to-series, with 13 episodes. Apparently it also gives Berlanti a new record of 14 shows airing.
  10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-34711492 Hopefully this will fare better than the movie adaptations.
  11. John Krasinski will be the fifth Jack Ryan in a new TV show coming to Amazon. It's not been greenlit for a full series yet, but is expected to be. Carlton Cuse will run the show and Michael Bay will be a producer. They say it's not a direct adaptation of books, but a contemporary take on Ryan's days in the CIA with some book stuff used as source material.
  12. Trailer now online. All 13 episodes coming to Netflix February 1st 2013.
  13. Sacha Baron Cohen has a new 7-part show on US network Showtime. They've been keeping it under wraps, only teasing that he had something coming over the last few days and today revealed that it's starting this coming Sunday. The teaser looks like he'll be acting as different characters again and there's an interview with Dick Cheney. He gets him to sign his waterboarding kit.
  14. By Sam Esmail IMDB ABOUT CAST Christian Slater as Mr. Robot Rami Malek as Elliot Carly Chaikin as Marlene Frankie Shaw as Shayla Gloria Rueben as Krista Martin Wallström as Tyrell USA RENEWS MR. ROBOT FOR SEASON TWO You should watch this. It is good.
  15. Oh God, FX have gone and ordered a pilot for Mayans MC.
  16. So this is what Dave Filoni is doing after Clone Wars and Rebels. It is set prior to The Force Awakens and will follow Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. Seemingly dropping the CG of the prior shows and going for an anime-inspired look. The article says it will feature BB-8, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron and Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's guest appearances rather than regular. It's coming in autumn.
  17. http://deadline.com/2017/07/disenchantment-matt-groening-netflix-animated-comedy-20-episode-order-abbi-jacobson-nat-faxon-eric-andre-voice-cast-1202135218/ Matt Groening is doing a new adult animation on Netflix. Already ordered 20 episodes, in two seasons of 10. Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre lead the cast, with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery also voicing. Lots of familiar names from both sides of the Atlantic there. It's set in a crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland with lots of the usual fantasy type races. As usual with Groening, it's being animated by Rough Draft.
  18. Netflix, David Fincher and Charlize Theron are doing a show based on the true crime book Mind Hunter: Inside FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit. Stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv and Hannah Gross. Set in 1979, FBI agents interview serial killers to help solve current murders. Their boss (I'm assuming it is) doesn't seem too pleased with that plan, from the teaser. Coming in October. http://deadline.com/2017/03/mindhunter-trailer-netflix-david-fincher-charlize-theron-series-holt-mccallanay-video-1202032899/
  19. https://deadline.com/2018/08/solar-opposites-alien-animated-comedy-rick-and-morty-duo-20th-tv-hulu-series-order-justin-roliand-mike-mcmahan-1202453250/ Hulu have given a 16 episode (across 2 seasons) order for a new adult animation from Rick and Morty's Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan. Due to start in 2020. It's about a family of aliens from a better world who are taking refuge in middle America. They disagree if it is awful or awesome. Roiland is also voicing a couple of the main characters.
  20. Looks like it's not been abandoned yet. They're looking to nab Mahershala Ali to star. It's not technically been renewed yet. Variety think it all going to hinge on who they can sign to star and the script.

    Galaga Chronicles

Have you ever really wanted a TV show telling the story of Galaga? You're getting it anyway. From Roberto Orci. At least it's being animated by ShadowMachine, who do BoJack Horseman and Robot Chicken.

    Amazon Prime Video

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tech/news/a552739/lovefilm-instant-to-become-amazon-prime-instant-video.html I used to be with Lovefilm, but left when they stopped renting games. At the time their streaming video service was nice as an added bonus on the subscription, but not something I'd have paid for on its own due to a poor library and apps only available on a very limted number of devices with rubbish update support. Not sure if this will tempt me away from Netflix, their original programming (House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development) blow away Amazon's rather uninspiring efforts in that area and without the introductory offer it's actually more expensive than Netflix (only by about £7 but still). The main argument for that price is the Amazon Prime delivery which i wouldn't particularly want. Still, more competition is good for us customers, not sure I'd want to be subscribed to two streaming services, but if they significantly improve their library I might take a look eventually.

    Avenue 5

Armando Iannucci is back with HBO for Avenue 5. It's a comedy set in the future, mostly in space, on a spaceship named Avenue 5. Hugh Laurie will be playing the American captain Ryan Clark.
  24. A pilot for this was mentioned in the movie thread over a year ago, but now TNT have picked it up as a series. Stars Jennifer Connelly and a bunch of others.
