  1. http://deadline.com/2018/05/lovecraft-country-jonathan-majors-hbo-series-jordan-peele-jj-abrams-misha-green-1202381033/ Thought this sounds like it could be interesting. Based on a 2016 book of the same name. Anyone read it? Jonathan Majors and Jurnee Smollett-Bell play the leads in Jim Crow 1950s America. They, and another character, go on a road trip to find Majors character's missing father. They encounter horrors of both the racist and Lovecraft kind.
  2. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tech/news/a552739/lovefilm-instant-to-become-amazon-prime-instant-video.html I used to be with Lovefilm, but left when they stopped renting games. At the time their streaming video service was nice as an added bonus on the subscription, but not something I'd have paid for on its own due to a poor library and apps only available on a very limted number of devices with rubbish update support. Not sure if this will tempt me away from Netflix, their original programming (House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development) blow away Amazon's rather
  3. It's HBO, so there's reason for hope, right? It's only early in talks, but Damon Lindelof, fresh off The Leftovers, is currently attached too.
  4. Amazon come along with another hero show, based on a Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic. The show is developed by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen. Stars Karl Urban, Elizabeth Shue, Antony Starr and a bunch more.
  5. Roger Law attempting to bring back Spitting Image. After the success of 2DTV and Newzoids (I forgot that existed and never even saw it). And with satire being murdered by the real world. He's filmed a pilot and is attempting to bring it to a US network rather than UK.
  6. I've seen a few trails for this and it seems to be getting decent word of mouth, so could be worth a watch.
  7. Batwoman is coming to the "Arrowverse". It's not certain of being its own show yet, but they are casting the character for a crossover event in December with a view to spinning her out to her own show. It's being developed by Greg Berlanti, of all the other shows, and Caroline Dries, of The Vampire Diaries.
  8. Greg Berlanti and DC Universe (DC's upcoming streaming service) are making a live action Doom Patrol series. It's ordered direct-to-series, with 13 episodes. Apparently it also gives Berlanti a new record of 14 shows airing.
  9. First two episodes are out there. Have been for a couple of days, so there doesn't seem to have been much buzz around it. I've not watched them myself yet, but a friend, who hated the movie, says these two episodes are decent enough.
  10. Another revival! Ralph Macchio and William Zabka have bills to pay are back as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. After competition from mainly streaming services, it's going to YouTube Red, the YouTube subscription service. Down-and-out Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and reignited his rivalry with a successful Daniel, who has struggles of his own. It's going to be a 10 episode half hour comedy series. Yes, comedy. Karate too of course. It's being written by the minds behind Hot Tub Time Machine and Harold and Kumar.
  11. The follow-up to The Haunting of Hill House The Haunting of Bly Manor is set in 80s England. Some actors returning in different roles. Coming on 9 October.
  12. https://deadline.com/2019/05/marvel-hulu-live-action-ghost-rider-helstrom-series-1202604999/ Another Marvel show coming to Hulu. The article mentions it seems to be based on the Daimon Hellstrom comic character, who I can't say I'm familiar with.
  13. https://deadline.com/2020/09/peacemaker-james-gunn-john-cena-dc-hbo-max-tv-1234582582/ Peacemaker, as played by John Cena in The Suicide Squad, is coming to HBO Max. The whole 8-episode first season will be written by James Gunn and several episodes directed by him.
  14. Netflix are making a prequel to The Dark Crystal. It's a 10 part series, produced by The Jim Henson Company with Louis Leterrier directing. *sploosh* [edit] A bit more detail
  15. This is a new sci-fi series on USA. It stars Rick's dead wife from Walking Dead and Sawyer from Lost. It's created by Cartlon Cuse. It definitely has a 'Lost' vibe to it, very similarly shot and very similar feel in that loads of stuff is hidden to you, and information about what's going on is on a drip feed. The pilot is out there, and the second episode is on in the US tonight. I really liked the pilot, and was all set to hate it. Great world building and visual effects, and good acting. Interested to see where it goes.
  16. https://deadline.com/2019/06/jurassic-world-camp-cretaceous-netflix-animated-series-1202626611/ Netflix and Dreamworks Animation are doing a show set on the other side of Isla Nublar in the timeline of the Jurassic World movie. 6 teenagers are at a special adventure camp on the island when the dinosaurs break loose. Coming in 2020.
  17. I'd been seeing stories for a while about a new DC Universe Harley Quinn cartoon but didn't pay much attention. I just knew Penny off Big Bang Theory was playing the main role. Happened upon a trailer this morning and it's not what I expected, being full of swearing and violence. They've assembled a pretty impressive cast too Kaley Cuoco as Harley Alan Tudyk as Joker and Clayface Diedrich Bader as Batman Jason Alexander as Cy Borgman Christopher Meloni as James Gordon Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho and Felix Faust Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor
  18. It was mentioned in the movie thread a while ago, but there's some more concrete plans coming together for the TV version now. Clement and Waititi are both involved, with Clement writing and Waititi directing. Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillen have been cast. Just a pilot order for now.
  19. There were some doubts it would happen, but it now looks like it is. Though at the TCA press tour, they said it won't be until 2019. No story details yet, but Hawley is working on it. [edit] Trailer added
  20. BBC Studios are developing a 6-part series based on the Discworld books. From the name, I assume it's mainly based on the City Watch characters. They're not looking to restrict it to 6 episodes, but one which can have more series to follow. It's being produced with Pratchett's production company Narrativia and apparently looking for other partners to make it a major international co-production.
  21. Due to more arguments in the big GoT thread about what should and shouldn't be in that thread and whether it was working or not I have decided to start this. Sorry for diluting the chat and making another GoT thread. Here is my post from the other thread which a few people seemed to agree with and forms the basis for this thread. I don't care if something is exactly the same as the book, completely different or whatever. If this isn't how you would like to discuss the show please open a "Game of Thrones-Books read up to current episode" thread. Please leave this thread totally book free.
  22. http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/robert-downey-jr-nic-pizzolatto-hbo-tv-1201836724/ Robert Downey Jr. had been trying to get a Perry Mason movie going at WB for a few years, but now it looks like it'll happen as a series at HBO, with True Detective's Nic Pizzolatto involved.
  23. Hilary Swank is going to Mars as part of a multinational mission for the first manned landing. Drama ensues as they are apart from their loved ones. Even the Russian cries. Coming on 4 September.
  24. Star Trek adult animation. From Rick and Morty head writer Mike McMahan. It'll focus on the support crew on one of Starfleet's least important ships. McMahan is also the guy behind that twitter account which posted fake episode plots for an eighth TNG season.
  25. CBS are having another go at The Stand. And it will have a new ending, written by King. Not a changed ending, but a substantial portion of the final episode (of 9) is going beyond the ending of the book. James Marsden as Stu Redman Whoopie Goldberg as Mother Abigail Amber Heard as Nadine Cross Greg Kinnear as Glen Bateman Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith Henry Zaga as Nick Andros Marilyn Manson will also be appearing in some unknown role as well as doing a cover of The End (The Doors) with Shooter Jennings for the show
