  2. http://deadline.com/2017/07/disenchantment-matt-groening-netflix-animated-comedy-20-episode-order-abbi-jacobson-nat-faxon-eric-andre-voice-cast-1202135218/ Matt Groening is doing a new adult animation on Netflix. Already ordered 20 episodes, in two seasons of 10. Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre lead the cast, with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery also voicing. Lots of familiar names from both sides of the Atlantic there. It's set in a crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland with lots of the usual fantasy type races. As usual with Groening, it's being animated by Rough Draft.
  3. https://deadline.com/2015/11/lost-in-space-tv-series-remake-netflix-1201587644/ Legendary TV is remaking Lost in Space, with Netflix winning a bidding war. Neil Marshall is involved and expected to direct. Not sure about the writers though. They did Dracula Untold, The Last Witch Hunter and the weird looking upcoming Gods of Egypt. Didn't bother watching the first two as they seems to be bad. If Rottentomatoes are to be trusted, they turned out awful.

    Maniac

Maniac, a dark comedy staring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill as two strangers drawn to a mysterious pharmaceutical trial. Unsurprisingly, things don't go as planned. Also stars Justin Theroux as the drug's inventor and Sally Field in a recurring role. It's a limited run 10-episode series directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. Based on a Norwegian series of the same name. Seems to have some good ingredients at least. Streaming on 21 September. Teaser doesn't give much away.
  5. This Andy Serkis version was doing the rounds about the same time as Favreau's Disney version and there was doubt it would get made as a result. But WB are pushing ahead. It will supposedly have a darker tone, which the original story apparently has, in comparison to the Disney versions. There's some big names attached too. https://screenrant.com/jungle-book-andy-serkis-mowgli-synopsis/
  6. New show based on a George RR Martin novella, which was previously adapted as a movie in 1987. Some scientists and a telepath travel on a spaceship, Nightflyer, to the edge of the solar system to try to contact alien life. Things go wrong. Co-produced by SyFy and Netflix, with Netflix having international rights. GRRM isn't directly involved in the show (apart from appearing in the trailer below), keeping busy on other stuff, but does get credited as Executive Producer. Apparently filmed in Limerick, where I didn't even know they had studios.
  7. Graphic novel, The Umbrella Academy, is getting a 10 episode live action series on Netflix. Steve Blackman will be showrunner and producer. He also produces on Fargo and Legion. I know nothing about it, so I'll just paste this. Apparently it's popular and award winning.
  8. Another former studio theatrical movie bought by Netflix, this time from Universal. Michael Peña stars as an ordinary working class guy who has recurring nightmares about mass destruction, and the loss of his family, by an unknown force. Everyone tells him it's just in his head, until an alien invasion begins. Also stars Lizzy Caplan and Mike Colter. Comes to Netflix on 27 July.
  9. So this is on Netflix. It's literally just Hannah Gadsby doing her new comedy set at the Opera House. It runs for just over an hour. I don't know how to sum it up. It's about non-comformity. The trap of self-depreciation. Art history. It's funny in places, incredibly confronting in others. It's worth its own thread.
  10. https://deadline.com/2018/06/wu-assassins-netflix-martial-arts-crime-drama-series-iko-uwais-stars-1202419729/ Iko Uwais stars in Wu Assassins, a martial arts sci-fi crime drama on Netflix. He is also lead martial arts and fight choreographer and stunt coordinator. Also stars Byron Mann, from The Expanse, Hell on Wheels and others you've probably seen him in.

    Midnight’s Children

Netflix are adapting Salman Rushdie's book as a series. It's about a boy born at midnight on August 15, 1947, when India became independent. His life mirrors what's happening in the nation over the following years. And he has telepathic powers linking him to 1,000 children born in the same hour, all of them having gifts or powers.

    The OA (Netflix)

    Eurovision

https://deadline.com/2018/06/will-ferrell-netflix-eurovision-screen-comedies-in-trouble-adam-sandler-chris-rock-1202412396/ Netflix have signed up Will Ferrell for a comedy movie set around the Eurovision Song Contest. Written by Ferrell and Andrew Steele, writer of Saturday Night Live and Funny or Die stuff, as well as the recent spoof commentary of the Harry/Markle wedding with Ferrell and Kristen Wiig.
  14. Another Hunchback adaptation, this time from Netflix. With a large helping of Idris Elba, who will produce, direct, make original music and star as Quasimodo. It'll be a modern re-telling.

    Six Underground

Not much detail on plot, but Netflix, with Skydance, are apparently spending about $150m on an action thriller movie directed by Michael Bay, starring Ryan Reynolds and written by Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. There will probably be explosions. Supposed to start shooting in summer for release next year. Unconfirmed reports from "sources" say it's about six billionaires who fake their deaths and form an elite team to take down bad guys.
  16. http://deadline.com/2018/05/guillermo-del-toro-live-action-horror-anthology-series-10-after-midnight-netflix-1202387868/ del Toro and Netflix are doing a horror anthology series. He will write and direct some and pick writers and directors for others.
  17. Couldn’t find a thread. I quite like this. I require the comments of other people to understand if I’m right or wrong. 4 episodes in now and it’s developing quite nicely.
  18. Netflix and Dreamworks (now owned by Universal's parent company) are bringing an animated Fast & Furious show to the world. It's a spin-off from the main movie series, led by Dom's cousin, Tony Toretto. Like his cousin, he gets involved in a shadowy government agency. Tony and his crew infiltrate a racing league which is a front for a crime organisation. Obviously.
  19. http://deadline.com/2018/03/cursed-netflix-tv-series-frank-miller-tom-wheeler-based-on-book-reimagining-king-arthur-legend-lady-of-the-lake-1202354796/ Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler are simultaneously writing an illustrated book and a 10 episode series for Netflix, named Cursed. It's a re-imagining of the King Arthur legend from the point of view of Nimue, the Lady of the Lake. The book is due out in Autumn 2019. Don't know about the show, maybe a similar time for cross promotion.
  20. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/netflix-lands-jordan-peele-keegan-michael-key-stop-motion-film-henry-selick-1094475 Netflix are financing Henry Selick's next stop-motion movie. Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key play the title characters, demon brothers facing their arch-enemy to try to earn their way out of hell.

    Extreme Universe

Netflix have done a deal for the Extreme Studios comics. I don't know much, or anything really, about them, but it was apparently later known as Awesome Comics too before closing. They were a studio from Deadpool's Rob Liefield. Alan Moore was involved too for a while. Akiva Goldsman will be setting up a writers room for the series of connected movies. Characters have very 90s names like Bloodstrike, Bloodwulf, Cybrid and Re-Gex, among others.
  22. Netflix, David Fincher and Charlize Theron are doing a show based on the true crime book Mind Hunter: Inside FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit. Stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv and Hannah Gross. Set in 1979, FBI agents interview serial killers to help solve current murders. Their boss (I'm assuming it is) doesn't seem too pleased with that plan, from the teaser. Coming in October. http://deadline.com/2017/03/mindhunter-trailer-netflix-david-fincher-charlize-theron-series-holt-mccallanay-video-1202032899/
  23. This was announced ages ago and just earlier today I was wondering if it had been dumped. Now they've released a teaser, urging you not to watch. We've got Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket, Neil Patrick Harris as Olaf as well as Joan Cusack and Aasif Mandvi. Comes out Friday, 13 January, 2017.

http://deadline.com/2018/03/netflix-scores-vigilante-superhero-feature-from-rick-famuyiwa-tj-fixman-with-keanu-reeves-in-talks-to-star-1202307469/ Another Netflix movie. This time about a new kind of vigilante superhero. Though for now they're not saying what's new about him. Keanu Reeves is in talks to star. Produced by the Russo brothers. It's directed by Dope director Rick Famuyiwa and written by TJ Fixman (AKA Todd Fixman), who has written, er, a bunch of Ratchet & Clank games and its movie, as well as the Resistance 2 game. Though apparently some other movies which haven't been made yet too.
  25. Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson are to play the men who killed Bonnie and Clyde, Texas Ranger Frank Hamer and ex-partner Maney Gault. It was originally in development at Universal long enough ago that Paul Newman and Robert Redford were to star. Netflix eventually got it from them and shooting has begun. It'll also feature Kathy Bates, John Carroll Lynch, Kim Dickens, Thomas Mann and William Sadler.
