  1. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/zack-snyder-returns-movies-zombie-pic-army-dead-1178979 Netflix are letting Zack Snyder loose on Army of the Dead. He literally says "There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one". It's a heist movie set during a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. A group of mercenaries are gathered to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted, inside the quarantined zone. Visionary.
  2. A new superhero-ish movie out on Netflix today. A new drug gives people a superpower for 5 minutes. Or a chance that it kills them. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a local cop. Dominique Fishback is a teenage dealer and aspiring rapper (apparently rap is part of the storytelling). Jamie Foxx is a former soldier whose daughter was taken. They team up to try to bring down the pills creators, while risking taking it to achieve that. It's written by the co-writer of Reeve's The Batman.
  3. They're giving a live-action Avatar another go, after that movie which doesn't exist. It's being run by the original animated show's creators/showrunners and will be on Netflix, in partnership with Nickelodeon. They specifically mention a culturally-appropriate, non-whitewashed cast and that Netflix are backing them in their vision to go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Also this concept art
  4. Graphic novel, The Umbrella Academy, is getting a 10 episode live action series on Netflix. Steve Blackman will be showrunner and producer. He also produces on Fargo and Legion. I know nothing about it, so I'll just paste this. Apparently it's popular and award winning.
  5. Hilary Swank is going to Mars as part of a multinational mission for the first manned landing. Drama ensues as they are apart from their loved ones. Even the Russian cries. Coming on 4 September.
  6. The trailer had me at Alison Brie

    Ratched

Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan have made an origin story for Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest. Regular collaborator Sarah Paulson in the title role. Comes to Netflix on 18 September. A few other familiar faces in there, like Cynthia Nixon, Sharon Stone, Judy Davis, Jon Jon Briones, Corey Stoll and Vincent D’Onofrio, among others.
  8. https://deadline.com/2020/07/beyond-good-evil-movie-at-works-at-netflix-with-director-rob-letterman-1203001341/ Netflix and Rob Letterman are to make a BG&E movie. He directed Detective Pikachu, and like that, this will be a live/CG hybrid. I wonder if this will make it out before the game sequel.
  9. Another revival! Ralph Macchio and William Zabka have bills to pay are back as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. After competition from mainly streaming services, it's going to YouTube Red, the YouTube subscription service. Down-and-out Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and reignited his rivalry with a successful Daniel, who has struggles of his own. It's going to be a 10 episode half hour comedy series. Yes, comedy. Karate too of course. It's being written by the minds behind Hot Tub Time Machine and Harold and Kumar.
  10. Coming to Netflix on July 2nd. A series about super powered teenage warrior nuns fighting the forces of hell. Looks like a lot of fun
  11. The latest from Spike Lee, coming to Netflix on Friday. Getting good reviews. Rated R, 154 minutes. Also features Jean Reno and Giancarlo Esposito. Apparently the flashback sequences will feature the actors without deaging effects or makeup.
  12. Charlize Theron and friends stab and shoot people all over in a movie based on a graphic novel. She and her group have been around for centuries thanks to immortality. But in the present day, their ability is discovered and they must stop those who seek to replicate their power. It's on Netflix on 10 July. Rated R.
  13. Production won't start until 2021 though, so it'll be a while before it comes out... https://www.aardman.com/aardman-reveals-details-on-chicken-run-sequel/
  14. Del Toro plans stop-motion 'Pinocchio' Del Toro teaming up with Henson Company for a stop-motion movie. Penned by Del Toro and someone called Gris Grimley who did a version of the book in 2002. I don't know him, but maybe some of you do. Oh, and one word which seems to stand out there is necrophilia...
  15. New workplace comedy based on Donald Trump's announcement of a new Space Force. That's where we are now. Created by Steve Carell and Greg Daniels of The Office (US version) and starring Carell. It's about the people tasked with creating the Space Force after the announcement.
  16. https://deadline.com/2015/11/lost-in-space-tv-series-remake-netflix-1201587644/ Legendary TV is remaking Lost in Space, with Netflix winning a bidding war. Neil Marshall is involved and expected to direct. Not sure about the writers though. They did Dracula Untold, The Last Witch Hunter and the weird looking upcoming Gods of Egypt. Didn't bother watching the first two as they seems to be bad. If Rottentomatoes are to be trusted, they turned out awful.
  17. Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan (who worked together for Glee and Scream Queens) have a new 7-part limited series on Netflix, coming 1 May. It's about actors and filmmakers doing what it takes to make it in post-war Hollywood.
  18. http://deadline.com/2017/07/disenchantment-matt-groening-netflix-animated-comedy-20-episode-order-abbi-jacobson-nat-faxon-eric-andre-voice-cast-1202135218/ Matt Groening is doing a new adult animation on Netflix. Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre lead the cast, with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery also voicing. Lots of familiar names from both sides of the Atlantic there. It's set in a crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland with lots of the usual fantasy type races. As usual with Groening, it's being animated by Rough Draft.

    Daybreak

Yeah so Daybreak. No post about it which kinda shocks me - or maybe we are all getting a bit long in the tooth for a show like this. HOWEVER, it's not what you think it is going to be. Give it a shot. It's actually a great mix of action, story, humour, redemption and a nice look at the next generation in a sense. Directed by the guy who did Rampage and half of the Rock's movies weirdly enough I just binge watched ten episodes this week and it's been one of the few Netflix Originals I've enjoyed in a while.
  23. https://deadline.com/2019/11/chinatown-prequel-series-pilot-robert-towne-david-fincher-netflix-1202789041/ Netflix have got David Fincher and Robert Towne (original movie writer) together for a prequel series to the movie. It'll focus on a younger Jake.
  24. Netflix show based on a 1959 Shirley Jackson gothic horror novel, but with the plot updated. Coming on 12 October. Created and directed by Mike Flanagan, of Oculus and Gerald's Game. It's about a group of siblings who lived in what would later become the most famous haunted house in the country. As adults they are brought back together and must face the ghosts of their past (cliche alert).
