  1. Coming on 19 June 2020. About a middle-school jazz teacher, Joe, who dies and goes to the You Seminar, a place where souls are made into individuals. (?) Then as a soul, goes on a cosmic adventure to get back to Earth. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross doing the score Directed by Pete Docter Joe - Jamie Foxx Joe’s mother - Phylicia Rashad Joe’s nemesis - Daveed Diggs 22, a helpful soul - Tina Fey Curly, a drummer - Questlove
  2. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tech/news/a552739/lovefilm-instant-to-become-amazon-prime-instant-video.html I used to be with Lovefilm, but left when they stopped renting games. At the time their streaming video service was nice as an added bonus on the subscription, but not something I'd have paid for on its own due to a poor library and apps only available on a very limted number of devices with rubbish update support. Not sure if this will tempt me away from Netflix, their original programming (House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development) blow away Amazon's rather

    Furiosa

The Mad Max spin-off is happening. It'll be set before Fury Road, showing her origins. Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role, with Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also in.
  4. http://www.slashfilm.com/dumbo-live-action-remake/ Tim Burton is doing a live-action Dumbo. Well, live-action plus CG. Contain your excitement, there's more. It “will add a unique family story that parallels Dumbo’s journey.” Sounds great. I've saved the best for last. It's written by Ehren Kruger, writer of The Brothers Grimm and Transformers 2, 3 and 4.
  5. https://deadline.com/video/welcome-to-the-blumhouse-trailer-amazon-prime-video/ An anthology of 8 Blumhouse movies coming to Amazon. 4 in October and 4 next year. I don't know if that means October next year. They've been churning out quite a lot of movies, with low budgets, often to good success, sometimes huge success.
  6. Stars Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer. Pratt and Holland are Ian and Barley Lighfoot, two elf brothers who set out to discover if there's enough magic left out there to spend one day with their father, who died before they can remember.
  7. Next movie from the makers of The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea and The Breadwinner. This one was snapped up by Apple for Apple TV+, but apparently is to be shown in cinemas too. No date, but supposedly this year. Sean Bean's the dad, so he's probably doomed

    Fatman

Mel Gibson is Santa. Business isn't doing so well, so he agrees to a one-time job for the US military, using his particular set of skills. Meanwhile, a rich 12 year old gets a lump of coal in his stocking, so he hires a hitman (Walton Goggins) to take out Santa.
  9. Another live remake of an animated Disney Classic. Currently set for 27 March 2020. Directed by Niki Caro, known for Whale Rider and The Zookeeper's Wife. Shot in New Zealand and China.
  10. May as well start a thread as it's now got a name. And as mentioned in the JW2 thread, Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are back, along with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Colin Trevorrow back directing, with shooting started yesterday. Currently set for release on 11 June 2021.
  11. https://deadline.com/2019/12/free-guy-trailer-ryan-reynolds-shawn-levy-joe-keery-20th-century-fox-1202803053/ Ryan Reyonds plays a background NPC, Guy, in an open world videogame, Free City, who decides to take control of his life after being surrounded by videogame mayhem for 27 days straight. Directed by Shawn Levy. I like the opening text poking fun at the studio's new owners.
  12. Guy Ritchie returns with Toff Guys. Supposed to be in the style of Lock, Stock... and Snatch. It's old money meets the marijuana industry. So far it's got Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Kate Beckinsale, Henry Golding and Jeremy Strong. Surprisingly, it seems Hugh Grant isn't a toff, but a gossip journalist who digs into people's lives and ruins them. Jeremy Strong is a pot kingpin. Don't know the other roles yet.
  13. Legendary are going to make a movie based on Enola Holmes novels. Enola is Sherlock's and Mycroft's young sister. Millie Bobby Brown will play Enola and Helena Bonham Carter her mother. Henry Cavill will be Sherlock.
  14. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/zack-snyder-returns-movies-zombie-pic-army-dead-1178979 Netflix are letting Zack Snyder loose on Army of the Dead. He literally says "There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one". It's a heist movie set during a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. A group of mercenaries are gathered to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted, inside the quarantined zone. Visionary.
  15. Doug Liman is now shooting a heist comedy drama involving a jewellery heist on Harrods during Covid-19 lockdown. Written by Steven Knight. Main stars Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor and should also feature Ben Stiller, Lily James, Stephen Merchant, Dulé Hill, Jazmyn Simon and Mark Gatiss.
  16. Charlize Theron and friends stab and shoot people all over in a movie based on a graphic novel. She and her group have been around for centuries thanks to immortality. But in the present day, their ability is discovered and they must stop those who seek to replicate their power. It's on Netflix on 10 July. Rated R.
  17. 50 at the time of writing, but that's not important right now. Old is also the name of his next movie. Plot details are still secret, but it's apparently based to some extent on the French graphic novel Sandcastle. And it's clearly got something to do with time.
  18. Seems to have been confirmed that the Wonder Woman sequel is named Wonder Woman 1984. Obviously, Gal Gadot is back, with Patty Jenkins directing. But Chris Pine is also back, in the 80s. Presumably copying the TV show thing of having the same actor playing the child (or grandchild in this case?) of the previous character.
  19. A third sequel rather than a reboot. Josh Gad plays Wayne Szalinski's son. He follows in his father's footsteps by becoming a scientist. And accidentally shrinking his kids. Joe Johnston, director of the original (but neither other sequel), is in talks to return. They were originally considering doing this for Disney+, but the suits reckon it's worthy of a theatrical run.
  20. BBC and Mackenzie Crook are making two hour-long Worzel movies for broadcast around Christmas. Crook is writing, directing and starring. Apparently many of The Detectorists team are involved.
  21. Coppola has had another go at The Godfather III. New name, The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, which he says is what he an Puzo always wanted. Re-edited with a new beginning and ending and other stuff rearranged. He says it's a more appropriate ending to the story. It's getting a limited cinema run in December. I don't know if that's US only, as sometimes these things are. It'll be available digitally after that. Chances of it undoing the bad rep Part III had to now?
  22. Rian Johnson writes and directs a whodunnit murder mystery with a bunch of people in a house where someone done a murder and everyone is a suspect. Stars Daniel Craig (DAT ACCENT), Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell and Christopher Plummer. Out 27 November US (apparently 29 in UK)
  23. Couldn't see a dedicated thread for this. Apologies if there is one.
  24. A new one from Disney Animation. Raya is from a world named Kumandra, which is in peril. She goes on a quest to find the last dragon, to save her world. Sounds like she finds the dragon early, but the dragon, Sisu, is in human form and needs Raya's help to regain her power and become a proper dragon. The culture, design, etc. is supposed to be very south-east Asian. Apparently a bit of Hong Kong action movie vibe too. Cassie Steele is Raya and Awkwafina is Sisu. Adele Lim writing. Coming around Thanksgiving 2020.
  25. A new superhero-ish movie out on Netflix today. A new drug gives people a superpower for 5 minutes. Or a chance that it kills them. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a local cop. Dominique Fishback is a teenage dealer and aspiring rapper (apparently rap is part of the storytelling). Jamie Foxx is a former soldier whose daughter was taken. They team up to try to bring down the pills creators, while risking taking it to achieve that. It's written by the co-writer of Reeve's The Batman.
