  1. No screenshots yet, seems they released the statement before the websites referenced went live. Does current generation hardware have enough power to properly render Roger Moore's eyebrows?
  2. Dark Souls 2 announced at the VGA awards: http://www.forbes.co...360-ps3-and-pc/ Trailer: http://kotaku.com/59...s-debut-trailer
  3. So the rumoured Super Slim has broken cover with Gamescon in sight it's traditional for these things to leak early! http://tecnoblog.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/ps3-novo-anatel-3.jpg Original source: - http://m.tecnoblog.net/107348/novo-ps3-anatel/ Joystic translation http://m.joystiq.com/2012/07/13/rumor-new-ps3-model-photographed/ Seems there's a 16GB SKU to go up sagainst the 4GB 360 which is interesting. Looks a little ugly in these shots but I thought the Slim looked like an arse when I saw the first leaked images. Not keen on the slide top for disc access though , proper cheap, one of the things I like about the PS3 (and Wii) is the slot loading drive. EDIT: iPhones suck for posting images ... Will edit later to include pics in the 1st post!
  4. So a few years ago Arc Systems Works was pretty much forced to move on from Guilty Gear. I don't know the details but presumably it came from Sega's merger with Sammy. Arc went on and did Blazblue, which was heavily based on Guilty Gear and that worked out quite well. Recently Arc announce that they had regained control over the Guilty Gear franchise. This week is AOU in Japan, and Arc have announced they will be reverse porting Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus to arcades. This in itself is nice news, but not especially relevant for people outside of Japan. However the better news is that Arc have already announced they will release it as a digital download with network play on Xbox and PS3 Now, it's not a new game, but it's certainly the first step towards a new entry in the series. BlazBlue has ended up running into the same routine as GG and most iterative fighters, so I wonder if they will return to GG for a while for a new title based on the success of this port. http://andriasang.co...ilty_gear_home/
  5. So, the new PS3 firmware update has added Singstar to the Games section on the XMB. Select it and it installs a new PSN version for free, which enables you to download and play songs you've already downloaded (or ones you now buy) via microphones or even singing at the PS Eye camera. All lovely. And free (bar the cost of buying new songs if you want to, of course). Then I read the blog post on the EU Playstation blog about it. http://blog.eu.plays...e-xmb/#comments It's amazing.
  6. Earlier this week, a new Capcom title was announced. Titled E.X. Troopers, this action shooting game is being developed for PS3 and 3DS (interesting choice of platforms) release under the watch of producer Shintaro Kojima (Monster Hunter series). E.X. Troopers shares the same world view as Lost Planet. However, the game has an anime visual style and a school-themed story (hmm... ). According to a summary of Famitsu, the game looks like a science fiction Justice Gakuen (eh?). Between stages, the game uses a "manga demo" event system similar to what was used in Gravity Rush. Capcom will be using May'n for the game's theme song. The game's already set for a playable debut, and will appear at the Capcom Summer Jam event in playable form. Capcom Summer Jam will be held on June 30 and July 1. E.X. Troopers tells of the fight between the snow pirates and Akrid aliens on EDN-3rd. You play as Bren Turner, a young man who's come to the academy (the game has a school theme, remember) from EDN-2nd. The game also introduces such characters as TeeKee, a female snow pirate who has the ability to communicate with the Akrid, and Gingira, a Vital Suit that's loaded with next generation AI and can communicate with its pilot. Gingira calls Bren "Master." The EDN-3rd planet has three bases, each with unique traits. You select one of these to serve as your base of operations. The three bases figure into the story, as while Bren comes from one base, other members of the academy come from different bases. Famitsu managed to get some interview time with Shintaro Kojima, the game's producer. The game was started with the hope of making a beginners' action shooter, explained Kojima. While E.X. Troopers shares its world setting with Lost Planet, they hope that players play it lightly as a new title. Unfortunately, the reveal article does not seem to have much in the way of gameplay details. But with a playable debut coming next month, we'll hopefully get details over the coming weeks. E.X. Troopers will see a Japanese 3DS and PS3 release some time this year. The game is currently 60% complete. Promtional artwork: Official site: > http://www.capcom.co.jp/ext/ Official first trailer (3DS version): No word on a Western release; yet.
  7. So with Gamescom kicking off tomorrow, I thought a thread to contain all the news might be called for. VG247 have written up a great summary of why this event is much more about the games than E3, so with some of the industries biggest publishers holding their own presser, we should get a good few announcements, and a better look at this winters line up. Below is a summary of the who, what, why where and when, in order of each conference's schedule: Capcom: Capcom delivered a solid show, focussing on new titles in existing franchises, but the stand out title was their new IP, Remember Me. What We Got: Devil May Cry Resident Evil 6 Lost Planet 3 Marvel vs Capcom Origins Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure HD (Vita) Okami HD Remember Me EA: What We Got: Crysis 3 FIFA 13 Medal of Honor Warfighter Need for Speed Most Wanted Star Wars: The Old Republic SimCity Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel Battlefield 3: Armored Kill Dead Space 3 NHL 2013 The Simpsons: Tapped Out Sony: What We Got: PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale (Vita & PS3) Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified (Vita) Assassin's Creed III Assassins Creed: Liberation (Vita) Soul Sacrifice (Vita) The Unfinished Swan Ratchet & Clank: Q Force (Vita & PS3) The Last of Us Killzone: Mercenary Wonder Book - A Book of Spells - Walking With Dinosaurs - Diggs Nightcrawler - Disney (only announced) LittleBigPlanet (Vita) When Vikings Attack (Vita & PS3) Rain Until Dawn (Move) Puppeteer Sports Champions 2 Tearaway (Vita) God Of War: Ascension Sly 4 (Vita & PS3) Little Big Planet: Karting Playstation Mobile (Vita & Android - Couldn't find the montage for this anywhere, if anyone does, just send it along and I'll update the link) Additional News: Below is a summary of the event taken from the Playstation blog: Ubisoft: Times: UK: August 15th 2:00 PM EU: August 15th 3:00 PM Live Streams: Text Stream Only: http://www.el33tonline.com/past/2012/8/15/gamescom_2012_ubisoft_press_conference/ Expectations: After knocking it out of the park at E3, it's hard to see what more Ubisoft have left to reveal. Numerous quotes points to a focus on free to play gaming reveals, based on their existing IP, so don't expect any Watchdogs level unveilings. Expected Games Are: Assassin’s Creed III Assassin’s Creed III Liberation Far Cry 3 Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online Shootmania: Storm Rabbids Land Rayman Legend Sports Connection Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013 ZombiU As Gamescom rolls on, I'll update the 'Expected Games' sections with links to revealed videos. Feel free to post links to these videos, and I'll roll them into the OP.

http://www.eurogamer...ers-ssx-domains I'm very afraid this'll turn out to be just for a mobile game of sorts.
  9. Well, I haven't done one of these in a while. It's another Know Your Boxart quiz! All the letters below are from the boxart of 2012 game releases. How many do you recognise? Please put your answers in spoiler tags so as not to ruin it for others. I'll post the answers up tomorrow if no-one gets them in the meantime. And yes, there is no letter 'Q' - I couldn't find a decent one.
  10. http://www.vg247.com/2012/07/10/angry-birds-trilogy-to-release-on-ps3-360-3ds-around-the-holidays/ Glad to see if come to the consoles, but full retail? That is madness
  11. http://www.theverge....for-380-million So, Microsoft to snap up OnLive?
  12. I have been loving my PS3 since I got it, currently into Heavy Rain and despite my preconceptions (and having 'played' Fahrenheit), I'm actually really enjoying it. Anyway, I regularly have mates over IN REAL LIFE and whilst we're chatting, playing cards, drinking etc I like to have the PS3 playing music. Now I like the earth based theme, and the standard ps3 sparkly screen, but the 'visualisation' one is pretty poor. So I went hunting to see if I could replace it with something. Alas, the answer was no it seems. So i thought I would open up my search. I found out one of the guys from PixelJunk and Q-Games (the people that made the space theme) were making some kind of app for PSN, but I couldn't see anything else apart from a rumour on Gamespot. Have any Mukers got any tips, tricks or words on advice on how to spruce up PS3 Visual Player? EDIT: just spotted the 3/£ in the title, sorry.
  13. I couldn't seem to find a thread anywhere for this even via google and was interested to start a bit of a discussion on it as I know little about it and have just started playing last night. Initial responses aren't exactly overwhelming and i'm guessing it gets better because the 7 out of 10 rating I had seen it get given just feels a lot higher than i'd have expected so far. Now i'm playing the PS3 version and from what I have read before, I think this is different from the other but I don't know if that means just features and extras or the whole game itself. The contols are the biggest problem I have with the game so far as they just feel unbelievable awful on top of a dodgy follow cam which sometimes ends up all over the place. The music very reminiscent of Obscure at times with some of the orchestral pieces and definitely the choir. It looks alright ish, but feels more action than horror at the moment. I think the layout being in a building where every turn the room gets ripped apart just makes the controls feel even harder to work with. I would like to know what others thought of this anyway. The only previous AITD game I have played before was the previous New Nightmare, which I regarded as a pretty decent game despite a worse score than this title. I think there's something about those static camera angles which I really like and the dodgy hard to get used to controls in classic RE style gaming which adds to the whole suspense. This edition just feels a bit messy so far, but i'm only about an hour into it or so having fought the first woman recently. It feels like im mimmicking the whole waggle just using the analogue stick to attack when you swing things. I think this is just one of those things to get used to.
  14. Times: UK: June 5th 2:00 AM BST EU: June 5th 3:00 AM CET US: June 4th 6:00 PM PST US: June 4th 9:00 PM EST Video Streams: http://us.playstation.com/e3-2012/ http://e3.gamespot.c...erence/sony-e3/ http://www.gametrailers.com/e3/ http://www.g4tv.com/...ences/Sony/135/ http://www.youtube.com/user/E3 Sony are also going all out on streaming the show directly to your PS3. You can watch a live stream of the conference via Home (contain your excitement, I dare you ), and there will be an icon under the 'What's New' category of the XMB, which will pipe the entire show through to you. What Are We Expecting: Vita, Vita and more Vita. Saying that, there's been plenty of buzz about Sony upgrading their Playstation Plus service with cloud streaming and a more tiered price offering. Plus will also be announced for Vita. There's also going to be a host of games of course. Sony has the habit of revealing many of it's upcoming schedule ahead of E3, and this year has been no different. So far we've had: God of War: Ascension Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault Sports Champions 2 The Last of Us The Last Guardian Sony Allstars: Battle Royale Sly 4 Ni No Kuni Dust 514 The Witch & The Hundred Knights Warrior's Lair Little Big Planet Karting Papo & Yo The Unfinished Swan Also hinted at, are new games from Quantic Dream and it's high time we hear what Guerrilla Games and Sucker punch are up to. The real meat of the show will be Vita though. Already it sounds as though Sony are going to be pushing the platform hard, with recent announcements/leaks including: Sly 4 Assassins Creed 3: Liberation Medal of Honour: Warfighter Sony Allstars: Battle Royale Ghost Recon: Final Mission Need For Speed Jet Set Radio Little Big Planet: Karting Call of Duty Bioshock Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection Lego Batman 2 Oddworld: Strangers Wrath Little Big Planet Killzone Phantasy Star: Online 2 Soul Sacrifice Urban Trials Rayman: Legends Retro City Rampage Sound Shapes Gravity Daze Guacamelee ...and a multitude of other smaller titles I'm also keen to see if they have any serious Playstation Suite announcements, and how much support that's getting. What We Got: Take a look at that list above, take a good look and then ask yourself why Sony chose to talk about just 5 of them... five.....F.I.V.E....fyyyyvvvvveee, God of War, Last Of Us, Sony All Stars, Assassins Creed Vita and Beyond (New Quantic Dream). No talk of cloud gaming initiatives, no remarkable new services for either PS3 or Vita announced, no Vita price cut (although an Assassins Creed bundle is planned), no shake up of the Plus service (although current NA subscribers do get Infamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Just Cause 2 and Saints Row 2) and no surprise exclusives. The only big surprise was a JK Rowling partnership on a new initiative called 'Wonder Book', which is a Move compatible children's book, which features plenty of AR tricks. Last Of Us was the star of the show, and shows that this is a surprisingly violent but markedly different game to Uncharted. Looks awesome. Overall though, this was a huge disappointment, and based on their release schedule, it didn't need to be. I honestly don't know what they're playing at, but to be frank, it was a waste of a great stage. Gutted.
  15. Now it's old news that EA regularly shut down servers for the online components for games. But even by their shitty standards this one is a new low. EA's MMA game was released at the end of October 2010 (so actually it's less than 18 months old). It was one of those games that required an 'online pass' if bought second-hand and quick look at its achievement list shows that a lot of the achievements require online.
  16. So, what better thread to start on a lazy sunday then a predictions and expectations thread about this years E3. It's only a month and a week away now, so better get those crazy and outlandish ideas in before the first inevitable leaks start seeping in. Personally I'm looking most forward to the Nintendo stuff this year: The final Wii U presentation, new 3DS games ea. I'm hoping we get to see the new Wii U Mario title, Pikmin 3, a new 3DS Zelda game (which will hopefully feat. Toon Link), more of Luigi's Mansion 2, more of Animal Crossing 3DS + it's actual name, more on Level-5's Fantasy Life, the rumoured The World Ends With You Too, the rumoured Kirby, Donkey Kong and Yoshi 3DS games, the rumoured Z.O.E. 3DS game. And of course a healthy amount of exciting eShop titles. And if I can dream, I'd like to see a Wii U F-Zero game, the announcement of an new Earthbound game, a Suda51 game for the WiiU (although he already said that he'd really like to do NMH 3 for the Wii U). I'm also keen on seeing what Sony will do with the Vita; both on trying to counter the pretty poor sales, and hopefully doing this Nintendo-style by announcing lots of great new and unexpected games for this little baby. Whatever happened to Dragon's Crown (and Grand Knights History for that matter...) ? Also excited about the PS4 actually, but just because I'm curious finding out about what we can expect from the next gen. Ah, and lest I forget: Will we see the reveal of a new 3DS model (with two sticks)? Last year I was convinced this'd happen at either E3 2012 or TGS 2012, so I wonder if I was right. Although I'm not so sure now... So, thoughts?
  17. In the run-up to E3 a rumour popped up that Sony was going to announce a partnership with a streaming gaming company (OnLive or Gaikai as I think they're pretty much the only kids on the block. MVC are reporting today that it goes further than that and they've outright bought a company. Gaikai has also sent the following to the media. I assume buying a company is a cheaper option than developing their own system from the ground up given the rate Sony is losing money. But this could be a good move for them, getting in on the ground floor of an area that is likely going to be more and more important as time progresses. My own experience with streaming gaming is mixed. I tried the demo of Mass Effect 2 on Gaikai, at first I was impressed with how well it was running on a 6mb connection (although the graphics were clearly on a relatively low setting) and it played well enough for walking around and conversations. Shooting was bit more problematic, but do-able, but the safecracking mini-games were absolutely unplayable as I watched the cursor lag slowly behind my movements. This could well improve as faster and faster connections become more widespread, although my understanding is that there is latency issue that will be incredibly difficult to overcome. You can give a bunch of demos a whirl on Gaikai now (there's no sign up) on your PC if you want to give it a try for yourself. http://www.gaikai.com/
  18. So this is out next week with virtually zero fanfare. I'd already written it off in advance as the latest in a long line of terrible Doctor Who games. But there's a surprisingly positive preview over at Eurogamer describing it as similar to Shadow Complex with a time travel mechanic. Might be worth a rental to while away the time until Max Payne is released. Says in the preview that it's a PSN release, but it appears to be getting a boxed release looking at various online stores and there's no sign of a Vita version (maybe it's releasing digitally and physically at the same time).
  19. So I only want exclusives, otherwise I'll get it on PC/360. On my must play list: Uncharted 2. SOTC HD remake. MGS4. Journey. Flower. God of War 3. Infamous 2. What else is worth getting/recommended? A new console! Wooo, I'm excited.
