  1. Anyone bought the new Layton game? £15.99 but supposedly it's a 'full' experience ala the DS games. Layton’s Mystery Journey by Level-5 Inc. https://appsto.re/gb/IFwvkb.i
  2. Okay with just a few days left on this (already funded) Kickstarter, figured it deserved a thread of its own. The 90's Arcade Racer http://youtu.be/bywfy_hcq_s http://www.kickstart...0s-arcade-racer Proper old school Arcade racer based on the likes of Scud Race, Daytona USA and Indy 500. WiiU release just announced along with PC/Mac, Android, iOS and Linux. Also its looking highly likely that there may be an ingame billboard featuring a certain forum name that may be close to a lot of your hearts (not NeoGaf!) So whos in? I certainly am!..... Just look at it! Latest Update: 11/02/2013 More game details taken from Kickstarter page:
  3. @The Bag You cheeky sod you. Leaving me worried that the original would break when iOS 11 came out, all the while working on this. Day. Fucking. One.
  4. Monument Valley 2 out now.
  5. Because the announcement thread is unfortunately called RIP Nintendo Nintendos first mobile game is being announced soon The guy heading it up is the guy who did Mario Kart, so people are maybe expecting F-Zero, but also Miyamoto mentioned Pikmin 4 being nearly finished but didn't mention the platform, and it's not like much is coming to Wii U at this point and NX isn't ready, so... Or it could be something completely different and new - speculation!
  6. According to NeoGAF the next-gen only rumour should be taken with a pinch of salt as it's from a different source than the rest.Animated loading sequences, who said they were running out of ideas!
  7. Yes it's one of those. F2P. Level and energy based. Feed Donald to Mickey to level him up etc. This one seems slightly more involved. Moving around the maps is real time and combat is turn based. Also it's currently having a 2.0 relaunch and you get shed loads of free stuff to get you started (Including thousands in IAP currency). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.square_enix.android_googleplay.khuxww&hl=en_GB https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kingdom-hearts-union-χ-cross/id1086859120?mt=8 I'm quite enjoying it so far. https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/04/06/kingdom-hearts-union-xcross-goes-live-today/ http://www.kingdomhearts.com/unionx/us/
  8. Has anybody played this, it's a lovely little Civ-lite (note very light atm) game on the iPhone, and possibly others, don't know. There's rudimentary combat, city building, tech trees, population control, and different civs. https://goo.gl/images/0lZ29q Link: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/the-battle-of-polytopia/id1006393168?mt=8 Oh and it's free- just pay for civs beyond the first 4. And whilst it's rudimentary currently, it does have pass and play and I can see it getting even better.
  9. I mentioned this in the iOS Gaming thread, but felt it deserved its own thread. Ticket to Earth is a tactical turn based RPG with puzzle elements that plays so damned well. You take on the role of Rose who has been left stranded on a planet that has been wiped out and along with Peace-Keeper Wolf, she must find a way to get back to earth. In all honesty, the story is a bit cliche, but it still has its charms, the writing isn't the best either, but again it stays the right side of being able to keep you engaged. Gameplay is a mix of tactical turnbased combat, but using puzzle elements to move round a grid, by matching tiles of the same type. Doing this also allows you to build up attack powers and unlock abilities to use in combat. Early levels are really simple and ease you in to the game, but when it lets your hand go, it does become a different beast, as you really need to think about you actions. You earn rewards for completing mission objectives, which can then be used to buy new powers and unlock abilities in a typical ability tree as seen in many RPG games. It is £3.99 from the iOS store (link) and I urge you to get it right now. No micro-transactions, just a fully fledged buy now and that is it game.
  10. Might as well go for the hat trick. FIREMBLEMEROES is one of those phone games that you play with your greasy digits, thumbing your troops around on 8x6 grids and tenderly caressing Tharja as she bounces all over the screen, wondering how you ever got to the point of caring more about a digital moe witch than your own flesh and blood family. This is all fine. It has some sort of payment system where you can summon warriors from previous Fire Emblem games by using up orbs, but you don't know which one you're going to get so don't be disappointed when you're feeling all excited about having Camilla available for a swiping sesh but a 2,000 year old dragon that looks like a toddler appears in her place and somebody calls the police. HERE IS VIDEOS! There looks to be a fair amount of maps to play around with and some sort of storyline tying it all together. No idea of pricing as yet but it's launching Feb 2nd on Android and 'soon' on iOS, which could be either later or earlier, we just don't know. EDIT: We DO know now. Feb 2nd on iOS too!
  11. Easily one of the best board games on the appstore Carcassonne by TheCodingMonkeys https://appsto.re/gb/33Oxw.i
  12. I've got high hopes for this it's their first game since 360 Hydro Thunder built for the latest consoles and we aren't exactly drowning in a sea of decent water racers. Out now on PS4 and next week on XB1 with Android, iOS and Win10 versions coming too. I really enjoyed the console port of the last one which started out on phone. http://www.vectorunit.com/riptide-gp-renegade
  13. I know we have some mukers playing this so I thought I'd make a thread. It's a F2P game where Homer has blown up Springfield (In a very funny intro movie) and you have to rebuild it, building by building, person by person. This involves clicking and waiting. Premium currency is available. The game often has tie ins to airing episodes and regular seasonal events (St. Patricks day currently). Here's a screenshot from my Springfield Username list Mightyflub You can click things in your friend's towns to help out daily as is the norm for these games. Please click my squidport sign thx.

    Lady Layton

Level 5 have announced a new game in the Layton series - Lady Layton: The Millionaire Queen Ariadne's Plot. Featuring the same puzzle gameplay as the previous Layton games, you play Professor Layton's daughter. The Japanese release is in Spring next year.
  15. HOLY SHIT! Just caught this! It's just been released, I've already got it downloading on the iPhone. This could justify an iPad purchase... https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rollercoaster-tycoon-3/id1008692660?mt=8 No in app purchases. Requirements: Requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Air Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad Air 2, iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 3 Wi-Fi + Cellular, and iPod touch (6th generation). This app is optimized for iPhone 5s.
  16. I'm only a few levels in but it does feel like the best AW style game yet for mobiles. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/id1008496061
  17. Quite an old one this but I just got back into it. Classic match 3 gameplay in the style of Puzzles and Dragons. Freely movable gems within a time limit and characters to collect and level up. No timers. You don't have to spend energy to play and can play as much as you like. It plays a video ad after every level but a small IAP purchase disables all that (See the fan area in the game for more details). Rather good fun if you like that sort of thing and the lack of timers is a bonus. Also if you put in this code 5872-4692-5276-7993 you'll get three free characters. Frobisher, Abslom Daak and Shayde (From the comics).
  18. I'm playing it at the moment & it is very good. Very much has that advance wars style feel to it.
  19. The return of Shadowrun, a sequel to the tabletop and then MegaDrive and SNES cyberpunk hacker RPG from the 90's. The license has been bought back by it's owner (Jordan Weisman - he of Mechwarrior and original maker of Shadowrun among others fame) and off the back of Schafer's successes, a Kickstarter project has been started for it; http://www.kickstart...urns?ref=search If you've not played the original, go and get zsnes or something and play it now. Played it now? Good, innit? Anyway, it's looking quite interesting, going to be isometric (as the original was) and have turn based combat "like Xcom" but more contextual - he seems to be a fan of the term, it's mentioned a few times - when you go into the combat. Will have "4 Dimensions" in it apparently in a similar vein to the SNES original with an ability to walk about in the cybernet like various 90's games as well as more normal pottering about in the real world (set in Seattle where it's originally based apparently) to find clues / speak to NPCs etc and I couldn't really tell what the other 2 dimensions would do, one of them to do with magic. It's basically a bit like Blade Runner but with Orcs and what not, this is from the kickstarter page but actually makes it sound a bit too much like a teenage Games Workshop fans' wet dream; "The game world’s origin story mashes-up the dystopian Cyberpunk future of a Blade Runner with the high fantasy creatures and races of a Lords of the Rings in an organic way that produces iconic characters, environments, and situations." A bit wanky but kind of sums it up. They're on $800,000 and if they get to the million before time is up (another 18 days) then they will also put in another city to run about in, which would be nice. Anyway, I only found this while looking at an update for DoubleFine Adventure, even though it had been mentioned in the Wasteland 2 thread but after the absolute shitty mess that was the idea of making that Shadowrun team based FPS that came out a few years ago (which they actually apologise for in the launch video, so hats off) I never, ever thought I'd see the day that this might get made. So if you were a fan, give them a few quid and hopefully it will be good. For completion, I have to mention that his devco are apparently now a maker of iOS games and "Tablet and PC" are listed as platforms for development, so there is some potential concerns it will be up-ported to PC and actually be made in some sort of painful touch-screen friendly way but I hope that it won't be designed for phones first.
  20. I've been waiting for this game for a long time. I loved Samorost 1, 2, Botanicula, and absolutely adored Machinarium. Samorost 3 has finally been dated for PC and Mac - March 24th, with the mobile versions following shortly after. Just look at it! If anyone missed out on Samorost 2, I think I have two Steam keys to give away. If you want one just send me a PM.

  22. Totems - Game of Conquest https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/totems-game-of-conquest/id499852645?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 GAME DESCRIPTION The game design is derived from the world-famous “4-Color Map Theorem”. The randomness of the totems in your ‘hand’, the changing colors of the territories, the variety of the maps, and the cleverness of your opponents will all conspire to make each turn a fun and interesting challenge. The object of the game is to place carved animal pieces (totems) on the map in order to claim territories. Each turn you will place matching totems on adjacent territories to expand your control of the map. The player who conquers the most territories when the map is full, wins. A game of Totems can be finished super-quickly or slowly, depending on your skills and your approach. It's FREE so download it now & give it a try. Seems like a simple game but could be worth a try? Multi-player is via game center my username is gospvg
  23. I hope Mr. Gerbik's family are ready to provide comfort and support for him during this difficult time.
  24. Tennis Champs Returns is a new and rather nice game out this week - its free with a 79p option to remove ads, and is apparently an old Amiga fave that has been redone by the orignal dev (have to admit it passed me by at the time). Looks like there is a nice deep career mode in there with some RPG type options, daily challenges and a nice cartoony look and play style that I'd pitch as a more sophisticated version of the old SNES classic super tennis (its not aiming at Top Spin or the serious games) Anyway its free so no reason to not give it a go if you think it may be your type of thing. iOS Link https://itunes.apple.com/app/tennis-champs-returns/id1062318595?mt=8
  25. Pocket Mortys is far more extensive than i'd anticipated. I've only played an hour or so but it has the feel of a full blown Pokemon game. It'll be nonsensical if you're not a Rick and Morty fan, but there are only 20 or so amazing episodes, so c'mon. iOS Link https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/pocket-mortys/id992640880?mt=8 Android Link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.turner.pocketmorties&hl=en_GB Trailer Link
