  1. Guy Ritchie returns with Toff Guys. Supposed to be in the style of Lock, Stock... and Snatch. It's old money meets the marijuana industry. So far it's got Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Kate Beckinsale, Henry Golding and Jeremy Strong. Surprisingly, it seems Hugh Grant isn't a toff, but a gossip journalist who digs into people's lives and ruins them. Jeremy Strong is a pot kingpin. Don't know the other roles yet.
  2. http://ew.com/movies/2017/04/22/dark-phoenix-confirmed-after-x-men-apocalypse/ Fox confirmed they're doing Dark Phoenix next. Due November 2, 2018, after New Mutants (April 13, 2018) and Deadpool 2 (June 1, 2018). Simon Kinberg is interested in directing.
  3. Oh shit son Not much to report on what the movie is about. Just that they're in final talks with Noah Hawley, of Fargo and Legion, to write and direct. This suddenly could be interesting.

    Overlord

There has been a little bit mentioned about this in Cloverfield related threads. But, if JJ is to be believed, he's said at CinemaCon that this is not a Cloverfield movie. What it is, is an R-rated movie with paratroopers dropped behind enemy lines the day before D-Day and encountering the results of all sorts of Nazi experiments with the supernatural, genetic modifications and that sort of stuff. Some footage was shown and it was apparently gruesome. It's Bad Robot's first R-Rated movie. Abrams is producing rather than directing. An Aussie named Julius Avery is directing. 2014's Son of a Gun seems to be his only other feature length movie.

    Free Guy

https://deadline.com/2019/12/free-guy-trailer-ryan-reynolds-shawn-levy-joe-keery-20th-century-fox-1202803053/ Ryan Reyonds plays a background NPC, Guy, in an open world videogame, Free City, who decides to take control of his life after being surrounded by videogame mayhem for 27 days straight. Directed by Shawn Levy. I like the opening text poking fun at the studio's new owners.
  6. Some details about the movie Darren Aronofsky and Jennifer Lawrence have been working on has been revealed. mother! It's a horror thriller due out at Halloween. Also starring Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domnhall Gleeson, Ed Harris and Kristen Wiig. Bardem and Lawrence play a couple whose "relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence."
  7. They're bringing T2 back to cinema next year, but it's in 3D.
  8. I know there are at least a few posters on here who have read Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles "trilogy". It was announced quite a while back that his works would be adapted for TV and into movies, possibly other media (games, stage etc). Now it's been announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda will take up the mantle of creative producer on the movie and tv adaptations, with the option to create a stage adaptation as well some time in the future. I'm quite excited for this although I think I'll have to reread the books, I realized the other day that I've forgotten a lot of what happens.
  9. A big bombastic America-Fuck-Yeah WWII film, by the looks of it. Buy a Midway and get a Pearl Harbour included. Supposedly a budget of $100m. Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Ed Skrein, Aaron Eckhart, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Nick Jonas, Luke Kleintank, Keean Johnson, Etsushi Toyokawa, Tadanobu Asano and Jun Kunimura.
  10. https://deadline.com/2019/10/nicolas-cage-star-genre-thriller-wallys-wonderland-haunted-amusement-park-1202771823/ Maybe a movie fitting of Cage. He plays a janitor in a twisted amusement park where the threatening animatronics come to life one night and he has to fight his way through them to survive until morning.
  11. Blomkamp's next movie is Inferno, starring Taylor Kitsch. He plays a cop who is called to investigate a murder in New Mexico. He suspects something bigger, possibly extraterrestrial, and comes face-to-face with a humanoid beast who is out to kill the only witness to the crime.
  12. https://deadline.com/2018/09/magnolia-pictures-lands-swedish-sci-fi-thriller-aniara-toronto-1202460821/ Based on a poem by Nobel winner Harry Martinson, a sci-fi about consumerist arsehole humans destroying Earth and setting off for Mars. On big ships designed like big shopping malls, because that's how humans are now. One of these ships suffers an accident and is knocked off course. People begin to reevaluate their lives now that they may not get to Mars. One of the stars runs a room where people can experience memories of Earth. This was ignored before the accident, because there's shopping to be done. But now people can't get enough and their anxiety and aggression makes the computer depressed. Which I really want to see. There's other breakdowns in society, extreme indulgences and cults and stuff too. The trailer may be slightly NSFW with a little flash of breast.
  13. They're bringing back Charlie's Angels again. Again. The new Angels are Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska. Elizabeth Banks is directing and also playing Bosley. She also co-wrote it with Jay Basu. They don't say it explicitly, but it sounds like it may be a continuation of sorts of the other movies, focusing on a different team, of which there are now apparently several worldwide.
  14. The follow up to Murder on the Orient Express, with Kenneth Brannagh as Poirot. Coming in October 2020. Cast has been announced, including French & Saunders together again.
  15. I was never quite sure if this was actually going to be anything more than talk, but it's actually progressing. Obviously Jason Statham and Rock The Dwayne Johnson are in their established roles. Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Mission Impossible Fallout) and Idris Elba have also joined. Don't know Kirby's role, but Elba is playing the villain. It'll be directed by David Leitch, of John Wick, Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2. Written by Chris Morgan, of Fast & Furious 3-9.
  16. Not much detail on plot, but Netflix, with Skydance, are apparently spending about $150m on an action thriller movie directed by Michael Bay, starring Ryan Reynolds and written by Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. There will probably be explosions. Supposed to start shooting in summer for release next year. Unconfirmed reports from "sources" say it's about six billionaires who fake their deaths and form an elite team to take down bad guys.
  17. https://deadline.com/2019/09/micro-budget-uk-sci-fi-20-years-in-the-works-gets-distribution-deal-1202746366/ https://www.invasionplanetearth.com/ 20 years ago, Simon Cox wanted to make a movie. Spent some time writing and trying to raise funds before going the crowdfunding route. Now it's finally done, after 6 years of shooting and 2 years of post production. It's being released in December. It was shot around Birmingham, including what appears to be a large scale battle scene in the city with 900 extras. Not exactly new ground as far as story goes; aliens harvesting humans. But I'm certainly willing to give a guys two decade passion project a go.
  18. BBC and Mackenzie Crook are making two hour-long Worzel movies for broadcast around Christmas. Crook is writing, directing and starring. Apparently many of The Detectorists team are involved.
  19. Despite the seemingly average-at-best reaction to the first, they're doing another. This time, they're getting Amy Jump to write it. https://deadline.com/2019/04/tomb-raider-sequel-mgm-warner-bros-amy-jump-write-script-1202594616/
  20. Looks like Marvel will explore more of the cosmic stuff in Phase 4. They've hired writers, Matthew and Ryan Firpo, to adapt the Eternals comic. Apparently, they're so hot right now.
  21. Edwards is out! But it's said to be amicable. He doesn't want a third blockbuster in a row and wants to do something smaller instead. Date has also been set for 22 March 2019. With Godzilla Vs Kong following 20 May 2020. They've also got the rights to Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah.
  22. First feature film directed by Noah Hawley, of the Fargo and Legion TV shows. And it looks like it'll be as off kilter as those. It's about an astronaut who has a transcendent experience while in space and begins to lose touch with reality. Apparently loosely based on the real story of Lisa Marie Nowak, who had a breakdown after returning from space. She strapped on a diaper so she could drive non-stop from Houston to Orlando to try and kidnap a woman romantically involved with another astronaut. Stars Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Dan Stevens, Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, Tig Notaro, Ellen Burstyn, Pearl Amanda Dickson, Colman Domingo and Joe Williamson.
  23. The latest live action remake, this time coming to Disney+ instead of cinema. Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux voicing the title characters. Also stars Ashley Jenson, Sam Elliott, Benedict Wong, Ken Jeong, Kiersey Clemons, F. Murray Abraham, Thomas Mann, Janelle Monáe and Yvette Nicole Brown. Being on Disney+, the release date depends on when that service launches in your area, but 12 November in the US.
  24. A new one from Disney Animation. Raya is from a world named Kumandra, which is in peril. She goes on a quest to find the last dragon, to save her world. Sounds like she finds the dragon early, but the dragon, Sisu, is in human form and needs Raya's help to regain her power and become a proper dragon. The culture, design, etc. is supposed to be very south-east Asian. Apparently a bit of Hong Kong action movie vibe too. Cassie Steele is Raya and Awkwafina is Sisu. Adele Lim writing. Coming around Thanksgiving 2020.
  25. There's been some casting news, some confirming rumours. Mark Ruffalo is also back as Hulk, as well as Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba. Natalie Portman will not feature as it's mainly off Earth. [edit] Trailer of awesome
