  1. Stars Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer. Pratt and Holland are Ian and Barley Lighfoot, two elf brothers who set out to discover if there's enough magic left out there to spend one day with their father, who died before they can remember.
  2. It's moving ahead, being written right now, and with Maverick back in full force, rather than the initial plan for him having a small role. It's going to explore how navy aviation is changing, with dogfighting all but gone and the rise of drones. Hopefully not a remake of Stealth. It's being written by Justin Marks, whose theatrical movie credits include Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and...that's it. He's got other stuff in pre-production, but what's released isn't a great record to judge him by. Given the videogame heavy nature of the forum, I'll just mention he's also going to potentially ruin Shadow of the Colossus and Dead Space.
  3. Sony are embarking on a 5 film shared universe based on Valiant comics Harbinger and Bloodshot. The first will be Bloodshot, due 2019. Vin Diesel is in talks to play the titular character. They're going for a hard R rating. Supposedly tonally and aesthetically influenced by the likes of Robocop, Terminator and Total Recall. The originals, not remakes and later sequels. Dave Wilson, Tim Miller's partner, is attached to direct. Eric Heisserer writing. Oscar nominated for Arrival, but also wrote The Thing sequel.
  4. https://deadline.com/2019/01/kevin-smith-jay-and-silent-bob-sequel-saban-films-1202541853/ Smiths movies seem to have been on a downward spiral, so I'm not sure this is wanted at all. In Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, they find out Hollywood is making a movie based on them and set out to stop it. In Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, they find out Hollywood is making a reboot of the movie based on them and set out to stop it. Starts shooting next month.
  5. There was an old thread about a Tim Burton animated version, but this is not that. It's a CG animation from the directors of Sausage Party. If you're still here, they've lined up Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Charlize Theron as Morticia, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley, Bette Midler as Grandmama and Allison Janney as their archnemesis Margaux Needler. Due on 11 October 2019.
  6. Perhaps it'll be rubbish, but I want to post it because Nic Cage doing Lovecraft. It's being directed by Richard Stanley, who hasn't directed a feature film since being fired from the notorious The Island Of Dr Moreau 23 years ago.
  7. Coming on 19 June 2020. About a middle-school jazz teacher, Joe, who dies and goes to the You Seminar, a place where souls are made into individuals. (?) Then as a soul, goes on a cosmic adventure to get back to Earth. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross doing the score Directed by Pete Docter Joe - Jamie Foxx Joe’s mother - Phylicia Rashad Joe’s nemesis - Daveed Diggs 22, a helpful soul - Tina Fey Curly, a drummer - Questlove
  8. I know they rebooted it 4 years ago, but they're doing it again. With Bay still involved. And they're hoping to add quality by hiring a writer that wrote one other movie, in 2013. Andrew Dodge, who wrote Bad Words. Though he's also working on Space Jam 2. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/new-ninja-turtles-movie-works-1121467
  9. The latest Disney live action remake of an earlier animation is Beauty and the Beast. It's not new news, but we don't seem to have a thread. We've got Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad and Stanley Tucci filling this one. They've just released the first trailer. Coming 17 March, 2017.

  11. The gang are back, following on from Welcome to the Jungle. Danny DeVito and Danny Glover joining the cast. Same in-game cast, but they've mixed up their real-world players.

    Ocean's 8

Yes, it is related to Ocean's 11. But this time with the main cast being female. Soderbergh just producing this time, with Gary Ross directing. Hows about some Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and Awkwafina in a caper? Yes, I know that's only 7. The last one isn't known yet. I'm sure there's already been angry tears in that corner of the Internet over the female reboot, but I've not checked.
  13. Universal and Blumhouse are doing a new version. Written and directed by Leigh Whannell. Starring Elisabeth Moss (Cecilia Kass) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (a brilliant scientist who she is trapped in an abusive relationship with). After Kass escapes the abusive relationship, he kills himself. In his will, he leaves her $5 million, contingent on her not being ruled mentally incompetent. Cue her being tormented by an invisible man, making her seem crazy. Due on 27 February.
  14. Martin McDonagh's next movie will be The Banshees Of Inisheer. He's teaming up with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson again. Inisheer is a real island off the west coast of Ireland (the shipwreck in the Father Ted opening credits is there).

    Dolittle

http://deadline.com/2018/03/robert-downey-jr-the-voyage-of-doctor-dolittle-rami-malek-kumail-nanjiani-craig-robinson-1202354251/ Universal have started shooting this live action and animated movie in London. Seems to have quite a cast. Due out in a little over a year, 12 April 2019. Live action stars include Robert Downey Jr. as Dolittle, plus Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Harry Collett and Jim Broadbent. Then doing voice work are Ralph Fiennes, Emma Thompson, Tom Holland, Selena Gomez, Marion Cotillard, Octavia Spencer, Kumail Nanjiani, Rami Malek, Craig Robinson, John Cena, Carmen Ejogo and Frances De La Tour. I don't think I ever did see the entirety of the Rex Harrison one. And I forgot there were Eddie Murphy ones.
  16. Jumanji producers are developing a sci-fi movie based on the Emerson, Lake & Palmer song Karn Evil 9. Daniel H. Wilson has been hired to adapt the screenplay. https://deadline.com/2020/02/radar-pictures-develop-emerson-lake-palmer-song-karn-evil-9-film-1202859799/
  17. Obviously it's got a big cast, many familiar to his movies. The titular French Dispatch is a collection of stories from an outpost of an American paper in a fictional French city.
  18. Continuing their live action remakes of animated features, they've announced some main cast of Aladdin. Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the genie. Smith had been rumoured for the role. Guy Ritchie directing.
  19. A third sequel rather than a reboot. Josh Gad plays Wayne Szalinski's son. He follows in his father's footsteps by becoming a scientist. And accidentally shrinking his kids. Joe Johnston, director of the original (but neither other sequel), is in talks to return. They were originally considering doing this for Disney+, but the suits reckon it's worthy of a theatrical run.

Pitt is Roy McBride, who travels to the outer edge of the solar system to find his father and unravel a mystery that threatens life in the solar system. Also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, Jamie Kennedy and Donald Sutherland. Currently set for 20 September.
  21. This time it's Sony. But it's already a write-off. Corden is in it. It's a musical comedy starring Camila Cabello as Cinderella. Minnie Driver is Queen Beatrice and Missy Elliott in talks to play the town crier. John Mulaney, Romesh Ranganathan and James Corden are mice/footmen. Also stars Pierce Brosnan, Billy Porter, Idina Menzel, Nicholas Galitzine, Maddie Baillio and Charlotte Spencer.
  22. Another live remake of an animated Disney Classic. Currently set for 27 March 2020. Directed by Niki Caro, known for Whale Rider and The Zookeeper's Wife. Shot in New Zealand and China.
  23. If the reviews coming out of the festivals are true this could well be one of the best action films we have seen in near on a decade and the red band trailer below certainly looks promising. Synopsis: The Raid follows a elite SWAT team as they raid a rundown apart ment, which is ruled by a ruthless drug lord named Tama who uses the location to shelter his junkies, drifters, enforcers and killers. When their cover is blown, Tama puts a bounty on the members of the squad which is echoed over the loudspeaker system across the apartment compound. With no reinforcements coming to their aid, Rama and his men must try to survive and escape this apartment highrise full of killers. The only negative is that some guy from Linkin Park is doing the soundtrack.
  24. Of course they're not stopping. And this time they've got Robert Zemeckis directing and co-writing.
