  1. Great main card. Cant understand why DC wouldn’t just keep taking him down and grinding him out, like he did back when he fought Rumble. Excellent from Stipe though, brutal body shots. Diaz looked good - nice to see he’s looking to be active again. Felt he could have had the finish there after some of those knees to the head. Enjoyed the scrambles on the ground too. That’s the type of MMA fight I enjoy most.
  2. I was there - god, what a spectacular event. Arnie and Iron Mike were in the crowd, I’m absolutely hammered on boozy iced lemonade slush puppy things and the place was going mental. Spent a fortune on seats alone but by god, it was worth it. I still have my room key from the MGM - it has a picture of Conor/Aldo as he pulled out at the last minute. The weirdest thing was that the seats in front of me were empty until the main event when some young Irish guys took them - imagine missing the Robbie/Rory fight after paying $1k per seat?
  3. Got Dublin tickets quite comfortably at about 11am. I would have expected it to be a bit more hectic after their recent Metallica support slot here. Whatever, I’m delighted to be able to see them.
  4. Don Winslow’s The Border is 99p today. That’s a ridiculous deal for a recent release. I only bought the paper book last week thinking there was no chance of getting it cheap for at least another year or so.
  5. Not everywhere does the belt whipping thing. My place doesn’t, it does an iron man thing where you roll with everyone on the mat but only for promotions to brown or black these days.
  6. I got a lot of Weber stuff for my birthday, including the pizza stone and the rotisserie. It's been a good week - just about got the weather to spend most of the week grilling, roasting and making dough. Rotisserie in action (not sure how to embed): https://imgur.com/BTLbT5n I need to get a peel to go with the pizza making, it's a faff to try and get the pizza onto the stone in one piece. Had my first go at pork belly too - crackling wasn't great so that's something to work on but otherwise very nice.
  7. First go at smoking a boneless pork shoulder and making pulled pork. It was really good - best result on the grill so far. I have the next week off work so I’m going to try and BBQ as much as possible.
  8. I like the idea of the Rift S - the pricing seems quite reasonable and the lack of tracking cameras and associated mess/hassle is appealing to me. Quest would be cool but I want to be able to use my PC for more demanding software.
  9. I hope it does well but too expensive for me personally. Given how the announcements were timed so close to Oculus news, I was hoping that Valve would launch this as somewhat of a spoiler with a tempting price point. As it is, I think it pushes me further towards the Rift S as a first VR device.
  10. Awesome - I'm glad to hear that it's up there with the previous two. His last book was a real disappointment after all. I recommended the Power of the Dog to my wife and she was really pissed off at me for recommending a book where but she ultimately agreed it's an amazing book!
  11. I'm still watching, I'm just one episode behind. It seems to be one of those shows that will end up being a cult classic though maybe not so popular during its run. I like Barry and Fuches, but I love Hank and Gene - hopefully those characters get some interaction at some point.
  12. I used the diffuser plate on the Weber today, smoked a rack of beef ribs. It was my first long low cook and it was pretty good. The temps stayed at 115c for 6/7 hours no problem. End result was pretty good - I think I could have gotten away with removing them earlier but my probe positioning perhaps wasn’t the best. Happy with it but should be better next time.
  13. I got one of these just before the long weekend. Absolutely chuffed with my purchase - yet to do any low and slow cooks but I did roast an awesome chicken.
  14. And the main event is off, Whittaker has a hernia. https://www.cbssports.com/mma/news/ufc-234-fight-card-robert-whittaker-hernia-out-of-middleweight-title-defense-vs-kelvin-gastelum/
  15. His voice is annoying definitely, but he's a good writer and his podcast efforts so far have been interesting. I signed up anyway - found a cheap returning user deal and got Limmy's book with my credit. 2 episodes into the Ronson podcast - decent so far. First episode is all setup of what happened and the people involved in August/Mercedes' life. Second episode starts to get going with some background industry nastiness, family interviews, conflicting stories and so on.
