Honestly gutted to see Jack Wilshere leave. He's a fantastic footballer and one of the only local Youth team products who was anywhere near good enough for a place in the first team under Wenger. I understand it's his decision to leave after meeting with Emery, don't really blame him as he obviously wants to play. Still I feel like the club could have done more to keep him TBH.

Lichtsteiner seems like a sensible signing, can't really read anything into it. Seems similar to the Kolasinac signing. I know he's much younger but he was on a free as well. I guess a two for one deal for Evans and Gibbs from WBA is out of the question now!

2 in a row for Zidane. He's the new Vicente Del Bosque!

Arteta really would have been a gamble, it could of gone either way so I can see why they decided against him. It's a tough league right now, we're up against 3 clubs with significantly more resources, all who currently have winning coaches. After that, Liverpool are probably on a similar financial level to us but have snagged one of the best coaches in the world and while Spurs have less money they have a fantastic manager who's punching way above his weight. Anyone is going to have a tough time coming in so I hope Emery is given enough time to succeed.

Emery seems a better choice than Arteta, Enrique or Vieira, but is maybe not the big name or inspirational coach many were hoping for. I think most people would have preferred Allegri, Tuchel or Nagelsmann. Seems a risk that he can't speak English, but at least he has a few months to practice. I'm sure we'll hear a lot about what he can or can't bring to the team over the next few days. The whole only having £50m to spend on the squad being a problem thing I really can't understand TBH. I honestly think we have a great squad. Attacking wise we're as good as its been in years. Getting rid of Sanchez, Walcott and Giroud and bringing in Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan was fantastic business. I don't even think the defense is that bad, we maybe need a couple of new players and better (or any) defensive coaching.

Easier than having to prize a manager away from his current job, negotiate with his existing club etc. is what I meant. I actually like the idea of getting a young dynamic coach in, but we are what one of the top 10 richest clubs in the world so getting someone in with no first team management experience seems risky. Wouldn't Allegri earn significantly more money at Arsenal? I mean assuming they paid him what they paid Wenger.

Looks like Arteta is going to happen. Not sure what to think TBH. Wonder how much influence Kroenke and his son had over the proceedings, as hiring Assistant coaches into Head Coach positions is much more of a thing in American Sports. Looking at where it’s happened in football recently it’s hard to say if he will be successful. Paul Clement, David Wagner and Pep Guardiola are three I can think of, all with differing levels of success. I guess it could be seem as a progressive move, more so it just seems like the club are being cheap not shelling out for someone like Jardim or Allegri and going for the easy option.

We were playing better when it was 11 vs 11. Either way Madrid look lethal on the break.

Interested to see who the board go with. I hope they go with a top manager who has experience at multiple clubs like Jardim or Allegri. I actually don't think Brendan Rodgers is too bad of a choice, compared to some of the other suggestions out there. He's just such a tit and would not be popular with the majority of fans. All the talk of Luis Enrique suggests they are just going to go with who's available right now, which is not a good sign.

Sad to see him go, he really was one of the greats. I really hope we win the Europa League this year, after losing to Galatasaray and Barcelona it would be nice for him to finally win a European Trophy before leaving. Despite what a lot of the Wenger-Out brigade say, it was clear to most fans that after the Stadium move he had no money to compete with he likes of Chelsea and Man U. When he finally got cash to spend he did win 2 FA Cups, but he seemed left behind a little in terms of tactics and probably should have left end of last season.

I know our defense is a shambles, but I'm excited about the Aubameyang signing. He seems like more an out-and-out striker than Sanchez. I liked Giroud, but he's never been that great and obviously wasn't happy on the bench (unlike Wellbeck).

If the Sanchez/Mikhitaryan deal happens, will this be the first time Wenger has done a swap deal? I'm racking my brain and can't think of any others.

Take it everyone has seen Ornstein's Tweet about no more spending? I do wonder if the club include wages in our so called War Chest figure which they release to the press each year? Also, very confusing that there is no more money to spend but we were in for Lemar and Mbappe. I'm honestly nor bothered if we bring in anyone else. It would probably be an another attacking midfielder when what we need is a DM, new defensive coach and new manager...

Kind of want this to happen to force their hand. Unfortunately I think the board have no clue, so god knows who they would bring in.
  15. Will have to check it out, thanks.
