I respect your opinion on indie games but it’s very tedious to read it over and over and over again.

Yep. Road noise effect is back and that makes a big difference to immersion. Still very mixed feelings about the game. I tried switching back to DR1 last night and to be honest it felt better. I hugely prefer the wider FOV and the graphics are much cleaner.

Not really. The beginning is just as good as the rest of the game. You might find that you enjoy it a bit more as your skills improve and you get used to the game. Or it might just not be your cup of tea.
  4. It’s an old Hori ex2 stick from the 360 era, using Magic DS adapter, which is awesome. So many games on Switch play great on a stick. I don’t know if it makes Cuphead any easier. Maybe a tiny bit. For me it’s all about nostalgia. I used to stand in front of a Wonderboy cab at Chorley baths pretending to play. The dream is now real.

I bought Towerfall this weekend in the sale. After a few hours playing with my offspring I’m pleased to say that it’s fantastic. Anyone who missed this first time round and is into local multiplayer should pick it up.
  7. Yes, best game in ages. I’m on Isle 3 now and loving it. Grim was a major challenge that took several days - must have been over 100 attempts. My only criticism is that the performance goes wonky, seemingly randomly, for a single life, then goes back to a smooth 60 when you retry. Happens about 1 in 10 retries i’d say. Are others getting this problem?

What’s the verdict on Steamworld Heist? £4.49 seems a good price but is it worth bothering with? It seems a well loved game. For reference, I didn’t get on with Mario vs Rabbids. Is this just that in 2D with robots? I thought Dig 2 was a solid 7/10, decent game. I do like tactical games, thought Into The Breach was superb.
  9. Ikaruga is 3:4 ratio. Photoshop job above is a disgrace.

They’ve said that they’re looking at it, and I think they’ve set expectations that it will be fixed. However, I don’t trust Codemasters one little bit. I have a real love / hate relationship with them.

I’ve been playing this over the past week. First impressions were very negative. This is the first game I’ve played on PS4 (standard) where it is clearly optimised for something more powerful. The graphics are rough at times. It has this resolution scaling that turns the image quality to mud. 90% of the time it’s fine, then it turns to shit and it’s awful. It affects some stages more than others. Frame rate is fine thankfully. Outside of that, the game has issues. The force feedback is missing a lot of the surface effects that were in the first game. This will no doubt be added in a patch. The AI balance seems rough too. It’s definitely not right. They probably released it 6 months too early. But, and it’s a big but, this game is fantastic. They’ve somehow improved the physics and handling and it drives like a dream. It feels a little bit easier to drive than the first game, definitely less frustrating, but not dumbed down. The cars feel nice and weighty and the sense of acceleration and deceleration is great. The sliding feels so, so good. The courses are more forgiving than the first game, which also helps to control the frustration level. Don’t worry, the challenge is still there. Style-wise, they feel a bit samey. Over an 8 mile run I’d like to see a lot more variety in the scenery. The art style is hit and miss. Some of the lighting effects are good, but sometimes it’s garish, bloomy and cheap looking. Overall I prefer the more restrained style of the first game. Happily, the DLC will add the original stages back in and on the basis of Monte Carlo and Sweden they have done a nice job.

Yep. Have never played it and looks right up my street. it looks like it might play well on arcade stick.

The first one is still the best one

Mario Kart. And I’ll deck anyone who says it isn’t.

Its another strong title in the crushingly difficult pony-tailed ninja fantasy deflect based combat genre.
