  1. These are the albums I've listened to the most, with either my original voting position for each year or "not voted for", and I'm hoping that the discussion thread will have lots of things to check out that I simply overlooked or forgot about... 2019: 01 - Matt Morton - Apollo 11 OST 02 - Bat For Lashes - Lost Girls 04 - Hildur Guðnadóttir - Chernobyl OST 05 - Carla dal Forno - Look Up Sharp 07 - Lana del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell 2018: 01 - Beak> - >>> 03 - Marie Davidson - Working Class Woman 05 - Daniel Avery - Song For Alpha 2017: 01 - Hans Zimmer & Benjamin Wallfisch - Blade Runner 2049 OST 02 - Kelela - Take Me Apart 03 - Goldfrapp - Silver Eye 05 - Jane Weaver - Modern Kosmology 07 - Lana Del Rey - Lust For Life Not voted for: Kelly Lee Owens - Kelly Lee Owens 2016: 02 - Disasterpeace - Hyper Light Drifter OST Not voted for: Pye Corner Audio - Stasis 2015: 01 - Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon 02 - Jamie Woon - Making Time Not voted for: Max Richter - From Sleep 2014: 01 - Mica Levi - Under The Skin OST 2013: 03 - Boards Of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest Not voted for: Goldfrapp - Tales Of Us 2012: 01 - Chromatics - Kill For Love 05 - VCMG - SSSS 2011: 01 - Metronomy - The English Riviera 02 - Kuedo - Severant 04 - Cliff Martinez - Drive OST 06 - Duran Duran - All You Need Is Now 2010: 03 - National - High Violet Not voted for: Massive Attack - Heligoland
  2. I've already had a trawl through the polls for each year and gone through my music library. Picking my top 2 choices from each year's list thread would be completely unrepresentative - it's really surprising how some years feature much more than others - I hardly listen to some of my number 1 choices at all any more, some of my lesser choices I like a lot more, and there is a great deal of music that I really like which I never voted for at all, and ended up listening to for the first time after the results of the previous year's poll.
  3. This is a companion thread to https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/314472-rllmuks-favourite-albums-of-the-decade-2010-19-discussion-thread/ - if you've already posted there and would like your favourites to be part of the compiled list, please post your results here - feel free to list up to 20 albums - in this format: Position - Artist - Album for example, 01 - Matt Morton - Apollo 11 OST 02 - Carla dal Forno - Look Up Sharp 03 - Billie Eilish - When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? PLEASE DON'T POST ANY OPINIONS OR RESPONSES - OR NEGS - TO OTHER FORUMITES' CHOICES IN THIS THREAD - you can do that in https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/314472-rllmuks-favourite-albums-of-the-decade-2010-19-discussion-thread/ The spaces and hyphens between position, artist and album are really important as it means that I can import the text straight into Excel without having to piss about with reformatting, and also I can reuse the albums of the year spreadsheet ;-) . I'll leave this thread running until the end of 16 February. You can edit your list as much as you like - I won't compile them until I close the thread. If you'd like to remind yourself of how you've voted over the last ten years, or to see which albums featured in the end-of-year polls, you can simply search using the albumsoftheyear tag. If you have any questions then PM me - if the answer is useful to others I'll add it to this post, below. Q - Are reissues allowed? A - This is up for discussion at the moment. Q - Are EPs allowed? A - Yes.
  4. Hi all, As discussed in the Best of 2019 thread, here's a new one for talking about your favourite albums of the last decade. In the end of year poll, we allow reissues - do you think this is equally appropriate for a decade poll? (I'm not sure if it is). I'll update the rule in the list thread ASAP once there seems to be a consensus. If you'd like to remind yourself of how you've voted over the last ten years, or to see which albums featured in the end-of-year polls, you can simply search using the albumsoftheyear tag. Once you've decided on a list, please post it in the list thread, which you can find here! . The poll will close at the end of Sunday 16 February.
  5. Probably an hour of work, no more. I’ll do it after the poll has finished, as the comparison will be interesting.
  6. you mean combine the results? I don’t think that would work well, as the number of voters fluctuates from year to year, so albums from a relatively low-turnout year wouldn’t be fairly represented.
  7. I’ll get the 2010s poll running in a week or so and let it run for a month. The rule we had for the decade polls run in 2010 was that you could choose up to 20 albums rather than 10, with 20 points for 1st place, 19 for second, etc - shall we keep that? Personally, I’d find it very difficult to narrow a decade list down to 10 albums.
  8. yes that’s right... Rank - Artist - Album [Total number of votes] [Total points] .
  9. Thanks @Garwoofoo and @wev , I'll correct that - even if the vocals are as annoying as rubbing two lumps of styrofoam together - as it puts them in the top 10.
  10. Thank you all, again, to everyone who took time to think about and post their list for this year. This is the 15th year in a row of doing this, and I wonder sometimes if, in decades to come, I shall still be waging a passive-aggressive war of attrition with the usual suspects, who never quite manage to format their lists properly. I've posted the whole list here - there were 315 albums voted for in all, which I think is the most since I've been running the poll (283 last year, 286 the year before). If enough people want to query the results or look at the raw data, then I'll upload the spreadsheet. I usually miss some near-duplicates or votes where someone got the artist and the title the wrong way round, so please feel free to point out any inconsistencies if it affects anything in the top 50. Just for reference (I always look them up when I post the results), you can find results from previous years by using the albumsoftheyear tag. As it's the beginning of a new decade, shall I run a Best Albums of the 2010s poll during January? The results of the decades polls from 2010 are here: 2000s - https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/220935-rllmuks-albums-of-the-decade/ 1990s - https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/221848-rllmuks-favourite-albums-of-the-90s-results/ 1980s - https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/223576-rllmuks-favourite-80s-albums-results/ 1970s - https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/225001-rllmuks-favourite-70s-albums/ So, here are the results! A 1st place vote scored 10 points, 2nd place 9, down to 10th place scoring 1 point. 11. Thank you all for voting - a really good turnout this year I’ll try to get the results done this evening, so I’ll extend the deadline to 8pm if anyone forgot to post their list yesterday.
  12. A quick reminder no.2 in case you missed quick reminder no.1 - the annual RLLMUK music poll is now pinned at the top of the music forum - it's open until 31 December, and it would be brilliant to have your votes! You don’t have to have 10 albums - your vote counts, even if you have just one album you’ve liked this year https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/313514-rllmuks-favourite-albums-of-2019-list-thread-open-until-31-december/

    Best New Music 2019

A quick reminder no.2 in case you missed quick reminder no.1 - the annual RLLMUK music poll is now pinned at the top of the music forum - it's open until 31 December, and it would be brilliant to have your votes! You don’t have to have 10 albums - your vote counts, even if you have just one album you’ve liked this year https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/313514-rllmuks-favourite-albums-of-2019-list-thread-open-until-31-december/
