  1. South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Got this for Christmas & I've got a question. Sorry if it's been asked and answered already. I never played Stick If Truth so is it recommended to play that first? I feel like playing FBW first bit fear the new mechanics will make the first game seem a step back if I do.
  2. Uncharted - The Lost Legacy

Have to chime in and agree the last couple of levels in this are absolutely brilliant. I've only played the game on and off since it released so I probably won't appreciate it fully until I go through it again but even allowing for that I think it holds its own in series. The only negative thing I can come up with, and it's a personal thing, is that it has too many puzzles. I like the exploration, characters and the combat in Uncharted games and the puzzles I kind of put up with. LL had a couple too many for my liking. It's still excellent though.
  3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I've only just finished the main game after playing on and off for two years. Every time I played it I always asked myself why I wasn't on it all the time. It's really immense. I think I got what is generally considered to be the 'bad' ending of the main quest line. This doesn't have any effect on the DLC does it?
  4. Thanks, Jonny. The fact I want to carry on after 86 hours confirms to me that it's amazing if I was ever in any doubt.
  5. After playing for 86 hours and doing 4 divine beasts I found myself in the castle for the first time. I hesitated for a second and then thought what the hell, I'll do the boss fight. Am I right in saying: Sorry if this has been covered but I haven't been reading much spoilery stuff in the thread while I've been playing the game.
  6. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

UC4 could never have lived up to the anticipation I had for it but as soon as I finished it I felt I wanted to play it again. This sometimes happens to me but very rarely do I actually do it. Anyway, I started a second playthrough on Hard (with a view to maybe attempting on Crushing if things go well) and I have to say that it's actually better the second time round. Generally remembering what's coming next is actually making a lot of the sections more enjoyable because first time round I felt like I stumbled my way through some of it. Basically I appreciate it more now than I did at launch. In many regards it's incredible.
  7. Prey - Metroid Preym

Can anyone tell me if the input lag from the demo has been fixed on the PS4? I'm really interested in this but found the gloo gun far too inaccurate in the demo.
  8. The Unofficial Aston Villa thread!

Absolutely tragic. When I heard he collapsed yesterday I was shocked but when the news of his passing this morning genuinely rocked me. Back in the mid to late 90's he was always one of my favourite players during a period of time I could actually have a season ticket and go to games. 44. If we didn't already know, life's so unfair.
  9. The Negative BOTW Zelda (and other games) thread

It's just an observation that generally people gather to talk about something they anticipate and then go on to enjoy, despite it's faults. Generally there will be pros & cons discussed but if the game is decent the pros prevail. I'm not saying it should be that way, I'm just saying it is quite often when it comes to individual game discussions. So, sometimes, threads like this are a good idea.
  10. The Negative BOTW Zelda (and other games) thread

It's really not. There is debate about games everywhere but you don't find many contrary opinions in threads designed to pretty much celebrate the game. It's not the greatest example but you wouldn't get very far discussing the weaknesses of Drake's output on a fan forum.
  11. The Negative BOTW Zelda (and other games) thread

This is just human nature, Smitty, surely? I've been guilty of it but age has mellowed me. On here I think you'll generally find that individual game threads are full of people who like the game with the odd smattering of criticism thrown in. People generally want the positives because they like the game themselves. I haven't seen Sterling's review but I know he scored it low. I'm not actually that interested to find out why either because I personally love the game and his opinion will have no bearing on that.
  12. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving it but at some point I'm going to rush to 'finish it' and that's not really what it's about is it?
  13. Invert look

I genuinely didn't understand how people could not invert the Y axis as it seemed so natural to me. Then it dawned on me only recently, the first ever first person game I played was Flight Sim on the Spectrum and since it was simulating a plane you had to press down for up. I guess that was me conditioned. If I can't invert Y on first-person stuff I basically cannot play it now. Was it Max Payne 3 that let you invert but had a sniper section that it didn't apply it to? Man, I struggled.
  14. I'm about 60 hours in, 2 divine beasts down and I do understand this, even though I have a different opinion. I'm not ready to say it's the GOAT (at the moment I still think that's Ocarina Of Time) but I know that's because I've really had to adjust what I think the game is. Like others have said, the world is the star and every time I play it it's a very different experience. It's almost the game of forever and the problem is me. I'm so used to handholding and being told what to do next to progress the game that I'm not used just 'playing' for the sake of it. I'm missing the direction I'm accustomed to, even in other open world games, and I'm having to get out of that mindset. And all the time I put into this is not helping my pile of shame and the fact I want to play Horizon at some point too.
  15. Broadchurch

It was a decent return to form up until the ending, which was a return to the form of the second series. A lot of British dramas seem to have great concepts but no idea how to get to the payoff. See The Replacement recently. Pretty excellent right up until the end, that made most of what came before it make little or no sense.
