    RⒶGE 2 - Explosions by Avalanche Studios

This is the best FPS I’ve played since Titanfall 2 - ticking off the things to do with a Spotify playlist and Danny Dyer’s chat is my bag, and I don’t care who knows it. You can get some epic chains going, the Bulletstorm really comes out as the abilities unlock.

    Playdate-A new handheld console thingy

They could have least made it compatible with Raspberry Pi or something. Imagine giving a kid (who is interested in creating games and sharing them on little usb sticks with friends, or online) that combo.
  3. I was a bit heartbroken that the Goldeneye ROM I found when originally modding the Wii had a load of texture and sound issues, running like mud. Did a bit of reading online and found the updated Wii64 files, with the ‘RICE’ loader, as well as a few more ROM files for the game. I now have it running at full screen, NTSC with luxuries such as a skybox and gun shots that don’t sound nightmarish. I’m so happy, a milestone moment

This is great fun, it has that amazing trait of starting with a plan, before descending into madness - frantically moving whilst discharging your abilities as they deplete and recharge. The sense of weight and impact is phenomenal, the crunch of Doom with the space in between enemies traversed more dynamically. In a way, it feels the same - the bigger environments balanced by a more expansive set of tools. Inside, it’s Doom again, the game rewarding you for getting stuck in, not being hit/powering through a hail of bullets, shrouded in an ability, smacking your opponent into gibs, before spinning round and taking someone’s head off. It’s less oppressive than ID’s game though, more space to breathe and switch things up. Possibilities come and go in an instant, the game always giving you an option. I’m also liking the driving, the graphics look great to me, just had a nice drive through the swamp as the sun was going down. It all hangs together really well, very impressed.

  8. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Wanker Link’s latest adventure sees our Hero control the wind by furiously masturbating a magical baton, given to him by a talking boat.

Microsoft & Sony sitting in a tree...

Nice. This sort of stuff is exciting, we then also have cross play and all of that fun stuff that Nintendo are involved in too. So you could potentially play a game on a Switch (2?) that is part of a collaboration with Xbox live/azure that in turn means its leveraging Sony tech. Where hardware and tech goes, will software follow? Could we conceivably see one box as a hardware collaboration between at least MS/Sony in a few generations? Allows them to consolidate core competencies and have more resource to focus on building more sustainable game production. It would get around regional demand fluctuation, e.g. Microsoft suffer in Japan, so 1 box that Sony markets and that MS studios make games for could be an idea. And also, re: competition... The comments in here about Stadia, Amazon, Netflix, Apple causing pants to be shat are spot on. ‘My enemy’s enemy is my friend’ - The message is clear, we are the companies that make Games with a capital G, but we’ll take some streaming to the consumer personal phone/communication hardware, in some form, and also standalone games for certain IPs in certain genres. Also the integration of Apple/Android experiences in the form of watching streamers, companion/map and communication apps, a nice little revenue stream for IAPs as well, touch of a finger away, not a storefront that takes you out of the gameplay on your main screen. I think Nintendo took a lot of unfair flack for their voice solution. Done well, offloading that sort of stuff to a native device makes a lot of sense. Of course, they cocked it up, but Sony and Microsoft should nail a better experience that takes advantage of automatic pairing, home network, voice, etc.
