12 seconds. i did measure the grams but forget. about 14 i guess. the Sette was about twice as fast, but over twice as loud, it grinds you down each morning for 2 years, excuse the pun.

After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, I managed to get a "free" gearbox from Baratza (actually, in Germany, their distributor sent me a gearbox for free, after i had to make a song and dance, but charged me 5 euro postage). The gearbox is about 40 euros. Replacement was easy, and the machine was quieter than ever, and worked great. However, I listed it on the local small ads immediately, and within days had a buyer. Being as it has a new gearbox, I am sure the new buyer will have many years of trouble free use, and I said that if there's a problem in the first year, just let me know.
  3. This is absolutely the case; it's a booty mcbootleg I think. I'll have a look. It's a nice repro, though. I have absolutely no recollection of when/where i got this! This is pretty much half of my collection and houses mainly the duplicates. What a system. Arguably a failure, but gave me a couple of absolutely glorious gaming years.
  4. Are you after PAL or NTSC-J? I have surplus stock and am going to be selling some soon; hope it’s not against any rules to put the photos in here, but I am not selling quite yet. A head’s up to those interested.

I am still debating Dangun. I was decided against it as it will probably sit on a shelf, as i have the digital. Who am I kidding? Ordered.

i found it in the store, i think i had to search "final"... maybe

57.7hz* Yeah, it's a bit of a murky water this one. The "newer" switch has better battery life and a seemingly for efficient CPU, but i do expect the performance to be the same. I've never compared, I was just curious. Interesting that it is the older switch, mind you. I love confirmation bias! Either way, I hope it runs well. I wasn't really at all interested in it, until i played the demo, and loved the atmosphere of it. As someone also guilty of spending 2 hours aligning and tuning my CRT image, only to turn it off and then go read forums, I ne

Cheers, I wasn't calling you out or anything. I will have a closer look today. I like to think I am very sensitive to unstable frame rates etc due to the games i play (including e sports, boo) and just, in general. I've always hated unstable frame rates. I wonder if the new waves themselves judder, or the entire frame rate? I ask because I wonder if there's a way to miss that, if you are focussing on your ship or something? Dunno. Are you on an original or new switch?

I gave Rtype a whirl last night on the Switch. I remember reading @strider’s impression that the frame rate was appalling... really? I’d love a video or idea of which section to look out for on that, because I didn’t notice it last night at all! StudioMudPrints on YT also comment how the Switch version has worse graphics bla bla, but you know what I was doing last night? In bed playing with Mrs Spoonman next to me. Can’t do that with the PS4 (short of having a screen in the bedroom, obv). Also, Mrs Spoonman commented how amazing this game looked on the small screen; having seen the

Dangun is great news on one hand, and a bit annoying on the other. I went through some serious hoops to get the digital edition as it was the only non-physical release... and now here we are! I would double-dip, but the kicker will be the EU import charges on a $100 game. I have until Friday to decide, I suppose. I've not yet bothered with Garegga or Ketsui—I haven't played cotton reboot yet! The backlog is real. Kind of cool to have a shmup backlog, with new releases and old die-hards alike. Good times.

I downloaded the Rtype Final 2 demo "just because", and actually, really got into it. The presentation is really quite amazing—I really felt like I was piloting a little ship into a desolate abandoned space station. Bear in mind, I haven't played Rtype since playing something in the 90s on Playstation, thinking it was too hard, and not coming back to shooters for about 10 years when I got Trigger Heart on DC and "discovered" CAVE games... So yeah, it's rather slick. In gameplay, I've not noticed any lag or dropped frames on my aged PS4. I've downloaded it on Switch also, for compar
  12. I also find the whole thing fun, and "easy" and am familiar with code, and hardware, and electronics... but these things are actually extremely difficult for most people. Apple Pi baker, Mr Fusion, all that stuff, I know what it is, but it's tinkering and not plug and play I decided against wifi as i remembered i can share my mac's ethernet port.

I will try Rtype later. I am sure they will patch it out.
  14. Oh, absolutely. I am all about CRTs and low-lag, but it's not "oven ready" which is what the OP seems to require, so either... get dirty, or go do something else. It doesn't sound too helpful, but the thing is, I would happily help out Protocol in getting things set up and connected... but I am sure other people would beat me to it! The difficulty of tasks is completely relative, really. Some people can run 20k, some can't make 20m. Some can code in C++, some can barely find the settings in Windows. I'm empathetic to those less "into tinkery" but this is a tinker's tool
