https://streak.club/p/34557/it-wont-always-be-this-way-by-exit-chamber Happy with this week's effort. Decided to make some nice relaxing downbeat hip hop type stuff and I think it's pretty decent.

I mean that it will make me end up buying hardware versions of stuff. Managed to resist proper modular so far...

Synths and Similar - an electronic music gear thread

I picked up a PO-33 KO (the sampling one) a couple of days ago on a whim, and I have to say I'm really impressed by it. Yeah, it doesn't have a whole lot of sampling time or.polyphony, but as a drum loop sketchpad it's magnificent. The built in FX make interesting loops very, very easy. Now I'm considering which other ones I need to buy...

I'm scared to try VCV rack, I think it might end up costing me a lot of money A lot happier with this week's effort, spent a bunch of time making new sounds and playing with my semi-modular stuff and ended up with this: https://streak.club/p/34496/incoming-signal-by-exit-chamber Lustmord/Kammarheit influenced dark ambient. Would have liked to spend longer on it

If I had as much time as I'd like for music stuff I'd be totally into giving it a go. Maybe in about 15 years when the kids have grown up... Not really that into adding a computer to my workflow just now anyway, I only really use one for recording and (very) basic mixing.

I've seen them before but never used one. It looks immensely complicated

Sorry I should have been more specific, I mean constructing something that doesn't sound like someone chucking a drum kit down some stairs My MPC will easily do the chopping and step mode makes it easy enough to arrange, but for that complexity I think it's probably far more suited to a mouse based DAW.

Love this. I honestly wouldn't know where to start making something like that.

Thanks! With regards to your synth comment, I quite often think I should buy a decent hardware controller and get a bit more ITB, I think it's a "grass is greener" thing. I've changed my gear so much recently I'm just trying to resist getting anything more until I'm a bit more familiar with what I have now.

You can submit late entries I believe, so get signed up and fire it up on the site! Good luck btw on putting your energies to "better" use. Making music fills a similar gap for me. I've barely had any time this week and have a house full of my extended family all weekend, so my effort is going to be entirely half-arsed.

    What are you playing?

I've been playing 1822 and it's broken my brain
