  1. Jump in for these rounds fella, it's not too late. I had a pityful attempt in round 1 anyway.
  2. Aye that Henry Winter doesn't paint himself well at all, especially with the Panama comment at the end. Alladyce just comes across as the saltiest bag of sour grapes of any individual I've came across. Funny the comment about Hoddle being more talented than some of the England squad. In Paul Merson's book he says that if his fitness levels would have allowed it, Hoddle could have easily walked into the first XI. Another story he mentions is about Scholes and Beckham practising free kicks against Seaman. Both of them struggling to hit the net after numerous attempts. Hoddle stomps over, puts the ball down and cracks it into the top corner on his first attempt So many ties to Middlesbrough though... • Southgate was Boro manager as we slowly descended towards relegation with a 29% win record but did manage to chalk up an 8-1 win against Sven-Goran Eriksson's Man City • He inherited the job after having appeared for the final time as a player in the 4-0 Europa Cup defeat to Sevilla, under McClaren as Boro manager, when he left for the England job. • Boro had been playing European football which was originally on the back of a League Cup final success against Alladyce's Bolton. • McClaren came in shortly after Bryan Robson was relieved, who had Venables by his side for a short time to stop the rot after the millennium. • And obviously, the greatest manager never to have managed England, Brian Clough, was born and raised in Middlesbrough.
  3. Apparently Black Ops III is free on PS+. Get on that, about 50GB download though. Best Call of Duty game of this gen.
  4. A new round is up folks, thanks to all that have taken part so far Round 2 is LIVE!
  5. I'm not overly convinced on the Boro kit (disclaimer: I never am): The story here is that the last time Hummel were the club's sponsor in '86, we were on the brink of liquidation and fought back against it with a legendary team (Pallister, Mowbray, Pears etc) and that's why Slaven is in shot on the left. Not a big fan of the sponsor being in black, it makes it look like something from Formula 1 - reminds me of the 888.com season. The long sleeve kit looks skin tight too which isn't really in tradition with our kits either. The Away kit though is really growing on me. Again, it's not what you'd come to expect from Boro but the Black/Blue combo is lovely. Hopefully, Gibson and Adama are staying given that they were all over the marketing stuff.
  6. Lots of good comments in this thread, but this is my favourite. If both teams play like they did against Iran and Morocco, they could be pushing for double figures goal difference.

    Hitman 2

This does look amazing. Anybody know if pre-orders can be canceled to get the sniper code separately?
  8. Exactly the same, I saw a few gifs of this last week and I was absolutely blown away. I'll be in for that day one.
  9. Yeah, for Tornado cups it's extremely difficult to go over par, even if you're mediocre. For the competitive stuff, we rank players based on 'official' rounds which means standard rules basically. It's easier and quicker to progress if you keep doing Tornado holes though. As for your other query, I've got all the DLC so far and to be honest, none are particularly essential - they just allow more variety. It takes about 18-20 hours to unlock all the courses, which is a bit grindy, but you can pop online anytime. It's not that great though on the open courses, they missed a trick with not allowing private sessions for friends on that. The events are good but really hardcore, otherwise we have the forum tour which you can access in my signature or via the Online thread.
  10. This is the Master Spreadsheet we use with the currently weekly round and restrictions: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1G4ps4tCPFvct3rj8yASYUvUAASTe-ZQYS2C6CrwANAI/edit?usp=sharing In the top right is the "guide" link for more general information.
  11. Aye putting, by all accounts, is the hardest part of a lot of golf games but those comments don't sound particularly great, especially when combined with unskippable cutscenes. I'll wait for the reviews. I think EG is still the best golf game going, but they dropped the ball with the latest one as it's not nearly as advanced as it should be. I understand the comments about the aesthetics, and normally I'd agree that I prefer authenticity, but actually the visuals in EG are decieving. It's an exceptionally hardcore game and the theme instead ties in to some of the larger than life gameplay elements and Japanese culture. Saying all of that though, there have been three iterations of TGC in the time that EG has produced one. I'm expecting big things!
  12. You folks not tempted by Everybody's Golf? I've explored the possibility of picking this up, but barring the course creator, it seems that EG trumps it almost in every way. That being said, I've sunk so much time into EG that I'm looking for a new sports fix.
  13. Ok folks... RGA 7 is live! To encourage a bit of extra participation, the first round will be available until Sunday 17th June unless we have a whole bunch of scores before then.
  14. Cool, half a dozen is decent. I'll fiddle with the spreadsheet when I get home tonight and will post up again when the new round is live.
  15. Just taking a litmus test of who's still interested in this before I kick this off again soon. Who's likely to take part, anyone? @tyler @PeteBrant @Vorgot @Spleen @Theholyhogg @Omizzay @Mr Majestyk @Kelthink @ChewMagma @DC LEMON @Petey @Meatball @glb @spanx @b00dles @unleashedmaniac @BelowNinety @chamberlago @bradigor
  16. I've took a punt on Argentina v Belgium for the final at 33/1. Also got another toilet role bet forecasting group qualifiers for £2.2k There's normally a team that catches everybody off guard or outperforms say beyond their own expectations (Wales, Iceland, Costa Rica) - this time round I reckon Serbia might do some damage.

  18. Has it? It doesn't seem like that comes across in the exposition at all. I keep doing runs and I have no idea why. Cheers though, I'll try read up on a wiki or something.
  19. What's the crack with Gungeon? I keep going back to it but something just isn't sinking in. I don't know what the draw is or what I'm trying to achieve and it doesn't seem like there's any form of progression. What am I missing, can anyone enlighten me?
  20. Has anyone managed to find a working Google Calendar link for all of the World Cup fixtures please?
  21. Strange you say that, works just fine for FTL. Either way, I'm too busy to look at this for another month or so anyway. I'll go with whatever the masses prefer, though balance and low maintenance is the only way to go.
  22. Battlefield already is Battle Royale pretty much, in terms of scale at least. The issue with Battlefield is having people/obstacles in close proximity (it's been a staple issue from BC2 and the COD rip off maps didn't work well for the BF4 DLC) and looting items (you normally rely on others for auto-pickups or chest high interactions). Those would be two major changes to a franchise not accustomed to that kind of experience. There's no game on console that even comes close to COD's tactile gunplay though, I can't see them dropping the 60 fps benchmark either which would be pretty impressive at that scale online. Be good to see what they both come up with...
  23. I had a couple of rounds earlier... I much prefer it to Fortnite for the gunplay alone; the lack of base building adds more emphasis on precision and reflex skill. Guns feel weightier, there's good feedback for impact and TTK is good too. It's also nice that gunplay transitions to first person like R6 Vegas. The visual style, whilst pretty generic, I prefer to Fortnite's gimmicky approach too but the car handling and UI is pretty clunky throughout. Both games have been around for donkey's years though, there's no excuse for either to not be pretty polished by this stage. That's why I think, if they get it right, Black Ops 4 will blow both out of the water. At least until PUBG heads to PS4.
